Supermono 550, Ducati is opening a new chapter in the history of single-cylinder engines.\u00a0 With the Superquadro Mono, which has a displacement of 659 cc and features a Desmodromic system, the company is setting a new benchmark in the category in terms of performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Design and concept<\/h3>\n<p>The inspiration for this single-cylinder engine comes from the system.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>What does &#8220;superquadro&#8221; mean?<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Superquadro&#8221; refers to the extremely high bore to stroke ratio.\u00a0 This allows for high RPMs typically found in racing engines.\u00a0 In the Superquadro Mono, this ratio is 1.86 &#8211; a top value in its category, made possible by a short stroke of just 62.4 mm.\u00a0 Generous valve diameters enhance performance, which would not be feasible without the Desmodromic system.\u00a0 This technology, also used in Ducati&#8217;s MotoGP bikes, improves performance and enables extremely high engine speeds.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>Power and torque<\/h3>\n<p>This engine high performer delivers an impressive 77.5 PS (76.5 hp, 57 kW) at 9,750 rpm and can reach up to 10,250 rpm.\u00a0
