Background to the recall campaign<\/h3>\n

The manufacturer sent preliminary information to its contractual partners in Germany at the end of October 2025. The measure is running under the campaign code 3RH. According to its own statements, the manufacturer has informed the Federal Motor Transport Authority about the safety-related defect.<\/p>\n

Cause of the problem<\/h3>\n

The pivot bolt of the shift linkage is located in close proximity to the exhaust system. According to Honda, the temperature in the area of the painted seat rises due to the radiant heat from the exhaust system. This stress can cause the paint to peel off. If the paint layer is damaged, the preload force of the bolt is reduced. This can cause the bolt to become loose. If it falls out, the shift pedal sags and the motorcycle can no longer be shifted.<\/p>\n

Countermeasures planned by Honda<\/h3>\n

For the affected machines, the mounting surface on the frame is to be treated. In addition, the bolt will be replaced and a threadlocker applied. Repair work is scheduled to begin in workshops in December 2025 or early 2026 at the latest.<\/p>\n

Number of vehicles affected<\/h3>\n

According to the manufacturer, 2,583 units of the Honda CB 1000 Hornet and Honda CB 1000 SP Hornet, both model year 2025, are affected in Germany. The recall apparently does not only affect the German market. Initial indications point to a worldwide recall campaign, which also includes reports from the USA and India.<\/p>\n

What owners can now expect<\/h3>\n

Affected owners will receive a letter in the near future either from Honda itself or from the Federal Motor Transport Authority. As soon as all the detailed information is available, the contractual partners will receive a separate circular.<\/p>\n
