With the Packtalk-S and 4X-S, Cardo has introduced two systems that no longer clamp onto the outside of the helmet but instead slot directly into the dedicated communication bay of the Shoei GT-Air 3, NEOTEC 3, and J-Cruise 3. This limitation was a problem for many riders, because those who already owned Cardo systems or rode in groups with Cardo users couldn&#8217;t easily communicate at the mesh level with the Sena system. A Bluetooth connection between Cardo and Sena was possible, but without the benefits of mesh technology.<\/p>\n<p>The two new systems close precisely this gap. Dan Emodi, Chief Marketing Officer at Cardo Systems, describes the motivation behind the development: &#8220;We&#8217;ve heard from riders for years that they love Cardo&#8217;s communication systems but want a solution that integrates more seamlessly with their helmets. With the PACKTALK-S, we&#8217;ve listened to that feedback to create a system that delivers the full Cardo experience in a helmet-specific integration that riders have been asking for.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Both systems consist of a control module that clips onto the helmet&#8217;s mounting plate, a battery housed in a compartment in the neck area of the helmet, the JBL speakers, and a microphone. Charging is done via a USB-C cable connected to a charging port on the control module&#8217;s short cable. Compared to the flatter Sena SRL03, the Cardo units protrude slightly more, which according to Cardo should improve button accessibility while riding.<\/p>\n<h2>Packtalk-S: Mesh Communication for Large Groups<\/h2>\n<p>The Packtalk-S is the more powerful of the two systems and is based on Cardo&#8217;s second-generation Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC). Mesh technology allows up to 15 riders to connect simultaneously in a group. If one participant drops out of range, the entire connection doesn&#8217;t collapse \u2014 instead, the network reorganizes itself automatically.<\/p>\n<p>The range between two individual units is stated by the manufacturer at up to 1.6 kilometers. In a group, the maximum total range is said to reach up to 8 kilometers. The connection should be established in less than five seconds. Sound is provided by 40 mm JBL speakers, and battery life is rated at up to 13 hours of talk time. The system uses Cardo&#8217;s Live Bluetooth Intercom and supports connections for up to four riders simultaneously. The range between two units is stated at up to 1.2 kilometers, with the maximum group range said to be 3.6 kilometers.<\/p>\n<p>The 4X-S also features the same 40 mm JBL speakers as the Packtalk-S and likewise offers over-the-air updates as well as IP65 certification against dust and water. Voice control via Cardo&#8217;s Natural Voice Operation is included with both systems. This allows the most important functions to be controlled by voice command without having to search for the right buttons while riding. In terms of performance, the 4X-S corresponds to the Cardo Freecom 4X.<\/p>\n<p>Sena currently does not offer a pure Bluetooth solution without mesh functionality for Shoei&#8217;s third-generation helmets. The 4X-S thus fills a niche for riders seeking an integrated communication solution at a lower entry price point.<\/p>\n<h2>Availability and Where to Buy<\/h2>\n<p>Both systems are expected to be available from April 2026 and can be ordered directly from the Cardo Systems website or through authorized dealers.
