New engine with increased performance

The Speed Triple’s 1160cc engine now delivers 183 hp (134.6 kW) at 10,750 rpm and a torque of 128 Nm at 8,750 rpm.  That is 3 hp and 3 Nm more than the previous model.  The revised design has not only made the engine more powerful, but also more compact and lighter.  These optimizations are based on knowledge gained by Triumph from Moto2 development.

A new exhaust system with improved gas routing and a lighter silencer not only ensure optimized performance, but also preserve the distinctive sound of the three-cylinder engine.  An optional Akrapovič titanium silencer with carbon fiber end cap is also available.

Precise handling thanks to advanced technology

The Speed Triple 1200 RS is equipped with the latest generation of the semi-active Öhlins SmartEC3 suspension.  This technology automatically adjusts the damping to different riding situations, such as cornering or braking maneuvers.  Using the Öhlins Objective Based Tuning Interface (OBTi), riders can individually adjust parameters such as front and rear wheel stiffness, brake assistance or cornering support.

The brakes consist of Brembo Stylema® calipers and an MCS lever, which enables adjustable tension and transmission ratios. The setup is complemented by Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires, which are designed to impress both on the road and on the racetrack.  With a weight of just 199 kg (approx. 438 lbs) including all fluids, the Speed Triple is one of the lightest motorcycles in its class.

Aggressive design with a sporty touch

Visually, the Speed Triple remains true to its roots: the striking twin headlights and single-sided swingarm are still present.  However, the design has been modernized for 2025, with sharper lines, a minimalist rear end and new colors such as Jet Black, Granite/Diablo Red and Granite/Performance Yellow.

The slightly wider and higher handlebars and the slim seat contour offer a sportier yet comfortable riding position.  The aluminum frame has been redesigned to increase agility, while black details such as on the fork and triple clamps underline the sporty look.

Comprehensive electronics for maximum control

The Speed Triple’s electronics package includes five riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider), lean angle-dependent traction control and ABS as well as wheelie control with four adjustable levels.  Functions such as adjustable engine brake control and brake drift control are also available.  Fully adjustable cruise control is available for longer journeys.

The 5-inch TFT display provides access to all functions and can be linked to the My Triumph Connectivity System for navigation, telephone and music.  Another new feature is an emergency brake warning, which activates the brake light in a rapid flashing sequence in the event of heavy deceleration.

Prices and availability

The new Speed Triple 1200 RS will be available from April 2025.  The price is £17,495, €19,995 plus delivery or $19,995.  The machine can be customized with over 25 available accessories.

Technical highlights:

  • Engine power: 183 hp (134.6 kW) at 10,750 rpm
  • Torque: 128 Nm at 8,750 rpm
  • Weight: 199 kg (438 lbs)
  • Fuel tank capacity: 15.5 liters
  • Tires: Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3

Comparison of the Speed Triple 1200 RS (2025) and the Speed Triple 1200 RS (from 2021)

Triumph has further developed the Speed Triple 1200 RS from 2021 to the 2025 version and introduced some significant improvements.  The new generation focuses on even more sophisticated technology, better riding dynamics and more customization options without losing the basic DNA of the model.

Differences and innovations in detail

  • Engine and performance: Both models use the same 1160 cc three-cylinder engine, which already delivered a powerful 180 hp and 125 Nm of torque in 2021. The engine has been slightly revised for 2025, offering improved throttle response and even smoother throttle response in particular.  Peak power increases to 183 hp (+3 hp compared to 2021), while torque has also been slightly increased to 128 Nm (+3 Nm).
  • Suspension: While the 2021 version was already equipped with Öhlins suspension, the 2025 Speed Triple takes the technology to the next level. The new semi-active SmartEC3 system enables even more precise adjustment of the damping to the riding situation.  The new Objective Based Tuning Interface (OBTi) offers seven adjustable parameters that can be customized.
  • Brakes and tires: Both models rely on Brembo Stylema brakes. However, the 2025 version supplements the system with the adjustable Brembo MCS lever, which offers the rider an individually configurable braking feel.  While the 2021 version relies on Metzeler Racetec RR tires, the 2025 Speed Triple comes with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires, which are specially optimized for road and track use.
  • Electronics: The electronics of the 2025 version have been expanded and optimized. New features such as Brake Slide Control and adjustable wheelie control offer additional safety and control.  The riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, Track, Rider) have also been refined to further improve the riding experience.  In addition, the 2025 Speed Triple is equipped with a new emergency brake warning system that activates the brake light by flashing in the event of heavy deceleration.
  • Design and ergonomics: Visually, Triumph has only subtly developed the design further. The 2025 version has been given new color combinations (e.g. Granite/Performance Yellow) and a slimmer, more dynamic appearance.  The seat height remains at 830 mm, but the handlebar position and seat ergonomics have been slightly adjusted for an even better riding position.
  • Weight: The dry weight remains unchanged at 199 kg (ready to ride). However, the new lithium-ion battery helps to further optimize the weight ratio.

Conclusion

The Speed Triple 1200 RS 2025 combines Triumph’s legendary design with state-of-the-art technology and increased performance. It is aimed at riders who are looking for a machine with precise handling and comprehensive control both on the road and on the racetrack.
