On the road to triumph in the desert
Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, celebrates Antoine Meo’s success at DesertX and documents these celebrations in an impressive video. The clip outlines the extensive preparation, the rider’s impressions and the Borgo Panigale team’s experiences over the weekend of the event in the Austrian iron ore mine.
Antoine Meo and the DesertX: an unbeatable combination
The DesertX, piloted by multiple Enduro World Champion and European Supercross Champion Antoine Meo, secured victory in the Iron Road Prologue of the Erzbergrodeo. Meo, who has supported the DesertX project from the beginning and is now even its ambassador, also took part in the Mitas Rocket Ride, a side race, finishing fourth overall. Among the two-cylinder bikes, however, he was undefeated in first place.
The challenge of the Iron Road Prologue
The Iron Road Prologue is a competition that serves as a qualifier for the final of the “Rodeo” and in which over 1200 riders participate. It consists of two laps and takes place on a particularly fast hill climb (over 600 meters of altitude over a distance of 13.5 km). Here, single-cylinder and twin-cylinder motorcycles compete against each other. Thanks to its spectacular character, over the years it has become one of the most hotly contested and highly anticipated races of the event. With the DesertX, Antoine Meo achieved a time of 10 minutes and 51.376 seconds, securing first place in the two-cylinder category.
A weekend of adrenaline and success
Ducati’s video vividly conveys the soaring levels of emotion and adrenaline during the weekend, which culminated in the DesertX’s double affirmation in the Iron Road Prologue on the mine’s fast-paced gravel track.
