MotoGP – Qatar Grand Prix

MotoGP in Lusail – Qatar Grand Prix 2026
Note: This event has been rescheduled. The MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix was originally scheduled for 10–12 April 2026. Due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, Dorna has postponed the Grand Prix to 6–8 November 2026. Tickets already purchased remain valid for the new date.
From 6 to 8 November, MotoGP heads to Qatar. The race takes place at the Lusail International Circuit, located just outside Doha. It is one of the most distinctive events on the calendar, as racing in Lusail takes place under permanent floodlights – making it a true night Grand Prix in the desert.
The circuit measures 5.38 km and combines a 1,068-metre main straight with a flowing layout of medium and high-speed corners. Artificial grass surrounding the track helps prevent desert sand from blowing onto the asphalt. In total, the circuit features 10 right-hand and 6 left-hand corners.
Track and Statistics
At Lusail, Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner are among the most successful riders, each with four victories. Jorge Lorenzo has also claimed multiple wins at this venue.
Lorenzo and Stoner share the record for the most pole positions in Qatar.
The current lap record (2025) was set by Marc Marquez with a time of 1:50.499. The highest top speed recorded at Lusail stands at 362.4 km/h, achieved by Johann Zarco.
Schedule
The detailed schedule for the rescheduled November date will be announced by Dorna in due course. The established format remains in place: free practice sessions on Friday, qualifying and MotoGP Sprint on Saturday, races across all classes on Sunday.
Doha as a Travel Destination
Doha blends a modern skyline with traditional architecture. Along the Corniche, you can stroll by the waterfront, visit museums, or explore the historic Souq quarter. Many hotels offer extensive amenities and are situated close to the coast or in the city centre.
