BMW Motorrad is giving its S 1000 XR some notable updates. At the heart of the motorcycle, the inline four-cylinder, the performance is neatly beefed up. Originally based on the engine of the S 1000 RR, the new XR manages to be even more impressive. It now comes with an improved output of 170 hp (167.6 hp, 125 kW), an increase of 5 hp (4.9 hp, 4 kW) over the older model. Thanks to a revised geometry of the intake ports and an adjustment of the mapping, this increase in power has been realized. An aximum torque of 114 Nm at 9 250 min-1 is maintained.
Ergonomic refinements: For the sporty driver
Riding comfort is the focus of the revised S 1000 XR. The redesigned seat is positioned higher (850 mm), giving riders more flexibility and freedom of movement, especially when riding in a sporty style. Three different seat heights can be individually selected. Whether on the country road or the race track, the adjustments support the rider’s mobility and control over the motorcycle.
Design updates: A fresh look
The motorcycle also gets a visual facelift. New side panels and sporty air intakes adorn the rear section, while the radiator cowling scores with a textured surface. The front “beak”, previously in black, is now in the same color as the bodywork.
Standard and optional equipment: a wealth of features
When it comes to equipment, the new S 1000 XR leads the way. The adaptive cornering light “Headlight Pro” provides improved visibility at night. The “Daytime Running Light” function also ensures better perception of the motorcycle during the day. Other features include “Keyless Ride”, a battery with increased capacity (12 Ah instead of 9 Ah) and a standard USB charging port.
Exciting new additions in the special accessories section are the “M Carbon Wheels,” the “M GPS Lap Trigger” and the E-Call function, which is now also available in the USA.
Colorful appearance: Three new color options
The BMW S 1000 XR comes in new, attractive colors: “Blackstorm metallic”, “Gravityblue metallic” and “Lightwhite uni/Motorsport”. The last option is available in combination with the M package and the M seat.
