Cyclone RC700: New sports bike with four-cylinder engine coming soon

Zongsheng’s premium brand Cyclone is working on a new sports bike and is positioning the RC700. Design documents provide a detailed impression of the possible production model for the first time.
  • Four-cylinder engine with around 100 hp (approx. 74 kW) from 674 cm³
  • New chassis concept with split frame structure
  • MotoGP-inspired aerodynamics with large winglets

The recently released design drawings show that Cyclone is preparing to enter a new segment. According to the company’s plans, the sports motorcycle is set to compete even more strongly than before with well-known mid-range models.

New frame and revised proportions

The RC700 differs significantly from the earlier RC680R and RC700R models. Instead of a classic bridge frame, it now features a construction consisting of a front trellis tube section and a rear aluminum segment. Together, these two elements fix the swing arm pivot point, enabling a new weight distribution.

Previous versions used either a single-sided swing arm or a conventional double-sided swing arm. The concept now on display features a newly designed aluminum swing arm with a solid undercarriage. This solution also required the exhaust system to be modified. Instead of a low rear silencer with an outlet in front of the rear wheel, the exhaust is now located in two tailpipes on the right-hand side, one above the other.

Four-cylinder engine with familiar features

The engine is visually and structurally based on familiar four-cylinder engines from the 650 mid-range class. According to earlier information from the manufacturer, the power output is expected to be around 100 hp (approx. 74 kW). The capacity is 674 cm³. Features such as the shape of the covers, screw connections, and the course of the four manifold pipes toward the right side of the vehicle indicate that Cyclone is using a proven basic layout as a foundation.

Specific technical data has not yet been confirmed. However, the performance values are expected to correspond to the specifications of the previous concept models.

Significantly sportier design

Visually, the RC700 is more closely modeled on modern racing motorcycles than before. The front features wide winglets and a low-slung fender that extends to the radially bolted brake calipers. A small headlight sits in the center, flanked by large air intakes. The previous twin headlights have thus been abandoned.

The overall appearance is sleeker and more aggressive than the earlier prototypes. The seat line rises slightly towards the rear, while the rear section is short and angular.

Positioning and potential markets

Cyclone plans to expand its model range in several markets. While the brand is already competing directly with other manufacturers in China, its international expansion is still in its infancy. The RC700 will be followed by other models, including an adventure motorcycle with a parallel twin engine and a V2 model, which is said to be based on a well-known Italian engine.

Whether and when the RC700 will appear on the European market is still open. However, the design documents shown suggest that series production is approaching.
