New bike, new opportunities: Michael Evans starts for Dafabet Racing with Honda at the Isle of Man TT. Dafabet Racing has made a strong statement for the Isle of Man TT 2025: The Bristol-based team is switching to Honda motorcycles for the 1000cc classes and securing a talented rider from the region in Michael Evans.  The 31-year-old Manxman will compete in the June event on the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP in the RST Superbike, Milwaukee Senior and RL360/PE Superstock classes.

First tests with the Honda Fireblade

Evans will already be gaining his first experience on the Fireblade this year.  At the same time, the team is relying on proven technology in the Supertwin class, where the Kawasaki Z650 will be used, which has already been successfully used by riders such as Josh Brookes and Davey Todd.

Successful path on the Mountain Course

Evans from Santon has been able to achieve consistently strong results on the legendary Mountain Course since racing resumed in 2022.  With twelve top 20 finishes in various classes, he has shown his versatility and potential.  In particular, his seventh and ninth places in the 2022 and 2023 Supertwin races and finishes in the top 15 of the Supersport races speak volumes about his ability.

New best times and impressive development

In the 2024 season, Evans set a personal best with a lap time of 128.232 mph (approx. 206.34 km/h) on the Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the Superbike TT.  He also finished 16th in the Senior TT, a performance that caught the attention of Dafabet Racing, who have big plans for Evans.

Comments from rider and team

Michael Evans is excited about the new challenge:

“I’m hugely excited about the opportunity with Dafabet Racing, especially with a bike as competitive as the Honda Fireblade.  That’s exactly what I was missing in the big classes.”

He also emphasized the progress he has made with the Suzuki, but sees the Fireblade as having the potential to further improve his performance:

“I believe I am capable of more and my goal is to get as close to the top 10 as possible.  The Kawasaki in the Supertwin class also offers a great opportunity, as it is considered one of the best bikes in the field.”

Ben Constable, Co-Owner of Dafabet Racing, added:

“We are delighted to welcome Michael to the team.  He has impressed us with his professionalism and his results to date.  With the combination of him and our new Honda machine, we are confident of achieving good results in the TT 2025.”

The team and Evans already know each other from the 2023 Macau Grand Prix, where Evans made a name for himself with an eighth place.

New impetus for Dafabet Racing

After a few quiet years, Dafabet Racing wants to build on previous successes with Evans and the switch to Honda.  The team will be supported by HRC (Honda Racing Corporation), who have already provided important technical assistance.

With the experience and know-how of the team, which has supported riders such as Dean Harrison and Ivan Lintin in the past, Dafabet Racing will be looking to make Evans a permanent fixture in the front group.
