- Cringle enters the Superbike, Superstock, and Senior classes on a BMW M1000RR
- The machine is built by PHR Performance, the company of TT record-winner Peter Hickman
- Team manager Derek Sheils was himself an active TT rider between 2013 and 2022
For Jamie Cringle, the Isle of Man TT 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter. The island-born rider will line up on a BMW for the first time, competing for the newly formed Cosmic Racing team. Previously, Cringle had exclusively raced Honda machinery in the 1000cc class; now he switches to the BMW M1000RR. His entries cover three big-bike races: the RST Superbike TT, the RL360 Superstock TT, and the Milwaukee Senior TT.

BMW M1000RR Built by PHR Performance
The switch gains particular significance through the collaboration with PHR Performance. The company belongs to Peter Hickman, who with 14 TT victories ranks among the most successful riders in the event’s history. All of his big-bike wins came on BMW machinery, first on the S1000RR and most recently the M1000RR. PHR Performance takes full responsibility for preparing Cringle’s machine.
Cringle himself sees the new setup as a major step forward. “It’s a massive opportunity for me, having support from Derek and team behind Cosmic Racing gives me a real platform to push on in the big bike races,” he said. His goal was clear: every year he has improved at the TT, and now the aim is to keep pushing lap times and move further up the leaderboard.
Cringle’s TT Career So Far
A look at Cringle’s TT career to date reveals steady progression. He made his debut in 2022, with a 29th place in the second Monster Energy Supersport TT as his best result. 2023 proved more difficult, with retirements in the Supersport and Supertwin races. The decisive step came in 2024, when Cringle moved up to the 1000cc class for the first time, racing alongside his brother Ryan. Two 18th-place finishes in the Superbike and Senior races stood at the end, and he broke through the 125 mph barrier for the first time.
At the 2025 TT, Cringle stepped in at short notice as a replacement for the injured Craig Neve at Bathams Racing. Under the guidance of Michael Rutter, he finished 17th in the Superbike race. He also earned bronze replicas in both Supersport races and the second Superstock race, where he set a new personal best of 125.451 mph.

Derek Sheils Moves From Cockpit to Pit Wall
Behind Cosmic Racing stands Derek Sheils, an experienced road racer now acting as team manager for the first time. The multiple Irish road racing champion competed at the TT himself between 2013 and 2022. His best result was an 11th place in the first Supersport race in 2019, with eleven top-20 finishes in total. His fastest lap on the Mountain Course came in the 2017 Senior TT at 128.780 mph.
Family and professional commitments had increasingly limited Sheils’ active racing career. Now he returns to the TT in a new role, focusing on leading the team and providing Cringle with the best possible support. He is assisted by Matt Crosson and Ivor Hatton.
Sheils emphasized that Cringle has shown steady progress since his debut and has proven he can deliver strong, consistent results. With the BMW package from PHR Performance, they believe they have the right tools to take another step forward. The goal is to give Cringle the structure and support he needs to fully realize his potential on the Mountain Course.
Cosmic Racing With Broad Support
The project is backed by several sponsors and partners. Ivor from the Cosmic Group stated: “We are proud of the progress the team has made and look forward to seeing our riders compete at the highest level on the world’s most iconic road racing circuit.”
For Cringle, the switch to the BMW M1000RR from PHR Performance and the integration into a professional team structure under Sheils represents the best starting position of his still-young TT career. Whether the new combination of rider, machine, and team leadership actually delivers the hoped-for leap in the standings will be revealed at the TT 2026 on the Mountain Course.
