In addition to the BMW G 310 GS, the sister model BMW G 310 R for 2021 was also presented in India.
Both models were developed by BMW Motorrad in Munich, but are produced by TVS Motor Company in India.
The GS is designed for the road, but also for occasional off-road trips. The G 310 R feels most comfortable in the city. The roadster is designed to move nimbly and flexibly through narrow streets, but it also knows how to convince on country roads.
Revised engine
The engine is still the well-known liquid-cooled 313cc single cylinder engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts and electronic fuel injection. The cylinder tilt and the 180-degree rotated cylinder head with a front inlet and rear outlet have been retained to maintain the compact architecture of the vehicle.
The engine delivers 25 kW or 34 hp at 9500 rpm, and a torque of 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. It complies now with Euro5 regulations, and for India with BS6 regulations.
BMW specifies 2.5 seconds for acceleration from 0-50 km/h. The top speed is 143 km/h.
New technology
Ride-by-Wire has been integrated to provide even finer control and improved motor response. An automatic throttle control prevents a possible stalling of the engine during startup due to an increase in speed.
Like the GS, the R is also equipped with a new LED headlamp, and the turn indicators and tail light have also been fitted with LEDs.
Clutch and handbrake levers are adjustable in four steps, which results in ergonomic advantages, especially for people with small hands. At the front a massive upside-down fork absorbs.
Color variations
The following color combinations are available for the BMW G 310 R Cosmic Black, Polar White and Style Sport. The engine housing covers for the alternator, clutch and water pump were painted in Titanium Grey metallic on both models. For the R, this also applies to the footrest plates and the rear grab handles.
