- ROADLOK appoints BlueMayim as official distribution partner for the Netherlands and the EU
- Products are now available through BlueMayim
- The immobilizer system carries ART4 certification, the highest security rating in the Netherlands
Motorcycle theft remains a serious problem in Europe, and conventional disc lock systems have long been considered a moderately effective solution at best. California-based ROADLOK takes a different approach: rather than a loose lock that must be removed before every ride, the manufacturer relies on an immobilizer system permanently mounted to the brake caliper that stays on the motorcycle at all times. By appointing BlueMayim as its official distribution partner for the Netherlands and additional EU markets, the company is now taking a strategically important step toward making this concept more widely available across Europe.

Permanently mounted instead of loosely carried: How the ROADLOK system works
The basic principle behind ROADLOK differs fundamentally from conventional disc locks. A bracket milled from high-strength aluminum is bolted directly to the motorcycle’s front brake caliper and remains there permanently, even while riding. To lock the system, a spring-loaded steel pin — the so-called BrakeBolt — is simply inserted into one of the cooling holes in the brake disc. This BrakeBolt weighs just 77 grams and can easily be attached to a keychain.
Once the pin clicks into place, the front wheel can no longer rotate. Anyone who accidentally tries to ride off essentially experiences the same effect as fully pulling the brake lever: the motorcycle simply stops. This is a key advantage over conventional disc locks, where forgetting to remove them before riding off regularly leads to damaged brake discs, bent forks, or crashes. With the ROADLOK system, damage to the brake caliper is said to be structurally ruled out by design.
In terms of tamper resistance, the system also relies on its tight integration with the brake caliper. Since the pin sits directly next to the brake calipers and fork, the affected section of the brake disc cannot simply be cut out, as is possible with conventional locks. Even removing the mounting bolts is said to be of little use to a thief, because the locked pin remains lodged in the brake disc and the bracket sits so tightly against the caliper that it is nearly impossible to pry off.
ART4 certification: Highest security rating for the Dutch market
One detail is particularly relevant for the Dutch market: the ROADLOK system carries ART4 certification. In the Netherlands, the ART classification is the mandatory rating system for motorcycle locks, required by both insurers and authorities. ART4 represents the highest achievable security rating. Anyone looking to take out partial or fully comprehensive insurance for their motorcycle in the Netherlands generally needs a lock with at least this rating. The fact that a permanently mounted immobilizer system has achieved this certification is likely to be a compelling argument for many Dutch motorcyclists.

From napkin sketch to OEM partner
ROADLOK was founded in 2005 by New Hampton Technologies in the United States. The company holds several US patents for its immobilizer technology and states that it manufactures exclusively in the United States. According to the company’s history, the idea was born from the founders’ own experiences as motorcyclists searching for a better alternative to conventional disc locks.
Over the years, ROADLOK has established OEM partnerships with well-known manufacturers. KTM and Aprilia are listed as official partners on the company’s website. According to ROADLOK, the company also has partnerships with Ducati and Polaris, the parent company of Indian Motorcycle. The systems are available for a wide range of motorcycles, from sportbikes and tourers to cruisers and adventure machines. KTM, for example, offers the ROADLOK system as original PowerParts accessories for various models, including the Duke 390 and several Adventure variants.
BlueMayim: Experienced Benelux distributor takes on EU distribution
The new distribution partner BlueMayim is based in Hengelo in the Dutch province of Overijssel and has been active as a B2B distributor in the Benelux region for around 15 years. The company focuses on parts, accessories, and technology products for the bicycle, scooter, and motorcycle industry. Among other roles, BlueMayim already serves as the official Benelux distributor for French windshield and bodywork manufacturer Ermax, as well as for various smartphone mounting systems in the two-wheel sector.
For ROADLOK, BlueMayim brings one thing above all: an existing dealer network covering the Netherlands and the broader EU market. Dealers, retailers, and end customers are expected to have access to original ROADLOK products through this channel effective immediately. According to the press release, initial shipments to BlueMayim have already been completed, meaning the products are available to order right away.
The Netherlands as a strategic bridgehead for Europe
The choice of the Netherlands as a hub for European expansion is no coincidence. ROADLOK states that it made the country the focal point of its EU strategy as early as 2019. Since then, the company says it has observed growing demand and increasing adoption in the Dutch market. With the mandatory ART certification requirement for insurance purposes, the Netherlands also offers a regulatory environment in which a demonstrably secure lock system holds a direct competitive advantage.
In addition to its US headquarters in Beverly Hills, California, ROADLOK already maintains a European office in Sheffield, United Kingdom, along with distribution partners in Australia, Japan, South Africa, and China. The partnership with BlueMayim is now intended to professionalize direct access to the EU single market and lay the foundation for further growth in Europe.
What this means for motorcyclists
With BlueMayim as distribution partner, access to the ROADLOK system is set to become significantly easier for European motorcyclists. Previously, purchasing was possible through the European web shop or specialized dealers, but widespread availability through a professional distribution network was lacking. Those interested in the system can now contact dealers within the BlueMayim network directly or order through the distributor. For Dutch riders in particular, who need an ART4-certified lock for their comprehensive insurance, this provides an additional option alongside traditional chain locks and disc locks. Whether and when BlueMayim will establish active dealer support in further EU countries beyond the Netherlands remains to be seen.
