Patent drawings indicate that Harley-Davidson wants to prevent their mostly heavy motorcycles from tipping over with a gyro system.
The system is designed to detect unwanted inclinations of the motorcycle and compensate for them with a gyroscopic flywheel. It is only active when driving slowly. At higher speeds, the system is separated via a clutch.
The system does not intervene during normal driving and especially in curves. It would also be counterproductive here.
Such a self-balancing system could prevent the motorcycle from tipping over. Many let themselves be deterred by heavy machinery because they do not dare to handle it or fear that they will not be able to hold it. The system could make this fear redundant.
