Handcrafted production and American components
The Buell Super Cruiser relies on handcrafted production and, according to the manufacturer, is designed to meet the highest standards of precision and quality. CEO Bill Melvin emphasizes: “These handcrafted machines are a true combination of performance and artistry.” Most of the components come from the USA: the frames are manufactured in Pennsylvania, the Dunlop tires come from Buffalo, and the engine housings are delivered directly from Michigan. According to Buell, around 85 percent of the components are of American origin. The company is pursuing a strategy of gradual production increases in order to be able to respond to individual customer requests and avoid overburdening the young production system. Each motorcycle is essentially built by hand.
Technical data: Performance and equipment
The focus is on the ET-V2 engine known from the Hammerhead 1190RX. It is a liquid-cooled 72-degree V2 engine with a displacement of 1,190 cm³. The maximum power output is 175 hp (128.7 kW) at 7,750 rpm. The maximum torque is specified as 127.4 Nm (94 lb-ft) at 8,500 rpm. Power is transmitted via a six-speed gearbox and a chain. A hydraulically operated, vacuum-assisted anti-hopping clutch ensures controlled downshifting.
Compared to the pre-production model, there are changes to the chassis: instead of the familiar Buell perimeter brake, dual 320 mm Brembo brake discs with 4-piston monoblock calipers are now used at the front. The front suspension is provided by a 43 mm Fox upside-down fork, while the rear features a Fox monoshock without linkage. A steering damper is included as standard.
Features and ergonomics
Standard equipment includes a cafe-style quarter fairing from Memphis Shades, raised handlebars, and a padded Saddlemen seat with pronounced back support. The 17-inch aluminum wheels are fitted with Dunlop SportMax Q5A tires. The tank holds 15.1 liters (4 US gallons). The seat height is 81.3 cm (32 inches) and the ground clearance is 12.1 cm (4.75 inches). The wheelbase measures 157 cm (61.8 inches). The ready-to-ride weight without fuel is 220 kg (485 lbs). The maximum lean angle is specified as 50 degrees.
Market launch, price, and availability
The price for the Super Cruiser remains stable at $25,900 (approx. €24,600, as of October 2025). The first customer deliveries are scheduled to take place in the next two to four months, as soon as the final regulatory approvals have been obtained. Customers who have already placed an order will be contacted directly and can configure their motorcycle individually. A deposit of $1,000 (approx. €950) is required to place an order.
Production will be ramped up slowly to ensure quality and to be able to respond to individual equipment requests. Accessories and special options will also be offered. Delivery times for Europe are currently still open, but the first vehicles are expected to be delivered quickly in the US.
A milestone for Buell
With the start of series production of the Super Cruiser, Buell not only wants to build on its own eventful history, but also make a statement in the field of powerful cruisers. The company is consistently focusing on craftsmanship, performance, and a predominantly American supply chain. The Buell Super Cruiser is intended to impress both as a motorcycle for active riding and as a collector’s item.
