Marquez, together with the medical team from Hospital Ruber Internacional, has decided not to compete this weekend. This means he will miss the first race of the 2021 season in Qatar.
After Marquez` upper arm was last operated on 15 weeks ago, the doctors are satisfied with the healing process. In total, he had to undergo three operations. Most recently, because an infection was detected in the fracture.
Even after intensifying his training (he got the OK to train with motorcycles again) everything is fine from a medical point of view. Nevertheless, they decided together not to jeopardize the further healing process. One should not underestimate the efforts that have to be made during a weekend on a 300 hp motorcycle. Especially when one has not been able to ride for almost a year.
On April 12, Marc Marquez has another medical examination, where the further procedure will be discussed.
