Because of the doping allegations against Andrea Iannone, a verdict has now been pronounced, he is banned for 18 months.
Since the Aprilia-MotoGP pilot’s urine sample tested positive for doping, Andrea Iannone had to answer before the FIM disciplinary court. Andrea argued that the MalaysiaGP sample’s doping result may be due to food contamination.
Guilty despite possible food contamination
The court considered food contamination to be possible but did not see Iannone being exonerated. It is the responsibility of every pilot to always check what he is consuming.
Iannone was banned for 18 months. Since he had already been suspended since December 17, 2019 and was also not allowed to take part in MotoGP training sessions, the ban will apply until June 16, 2021.

His team stands behind Iannone and sees the punishment as not justified. An appeal is planned to hear the incident before the sports court. If the FIM verdict is confirmed there, or if a similar verdict is reached, that probably means the end of the career for the Italian.
