Stage 4 goes inland. 676 km had to be covered from Neom to Al-Ùla, in the north of Medina. The timed distance was 453 km.

Leader Ricky Brabec set the pace well at the start, but the sandy road was a bit of a problem. Brabec also lost time and finally finished seventh.
It actually looked like a stage win for Conejo, but in the end Sam Sunderland was able to prevail. The two were only 11 seconds apart. Sunderland was given a 5-minute penalty afterwards, which made him only eighth.
He got the time penalty because he drove too fast in a slow zone of the stage.
Yamaha driver Xavier de Soultraint unfortunately had to give up the Dakar 2020. He had injured his wrist on yesterday’s stage. Nevertheless, he started again today and made another 300 km. Then he had to throw in the towel.
