The pit building of the racetrack in Termas de Rio Hondo (Argentina) caught fire at around 11 p.m. on Friday night. The cause is still unclear.
According to media reports, about 80 percent of the pit building is lost, fortunately no one was injured. The fire seems to have started near the terraces in the area of the VIP rooms. A strong contingent of firefighters had to be deployed to fight the major blaze. They also had to concentrate on protecting the adjacent museum. Damage was prevented, so that at least the museum should be reopened in the next few days.
Only recently, the MotoGP race, which was actually planned for April 11, had to be postponed because of the current situation due to the pandemic. A new date was still open. Already last year there was no MotoGP race in Termas de Rio Hondo.
