Big moves in MotoGP leave their mark
Aprilia has made impressive strides in MotoGP in recent years. Now the Noale-based motorcycle manufacturer seems poised to incorporate some of those innovations into its flagship sportbikes, as indicated by recently surfaced prototype images.

Alleged 2024 models of the Aprilia RSV4 1100 and Tuono V4 1100 were recently spotted. The prototype images show new front aerodynamics. These are obviously inspired by the MotoGP racer, which is evident from the huge segmented front spoiler. While the RSV4’s setup is exactly the same as the RS-GP, the Tuono shows off a shorter version and a new windshield. In the pictures, it looks as if the winglets are not made of carbon, however, like the models in MotoGP. A lightweight plastic would also make sense here for cost reasons.
Updates to the side panel design?
Interestingly, updated side fairings are also fitted, dispensing with the aerodynamic twin fairings currently found on the RSV4 1100 and Tuono V4.
Aprilia remains constant on performance and equipment?
Aside from the winglets and side fairings, no other notable changes appear to have been made. Both bikes keep the same bodywork, the same exhaust and even the engine case seems identical. This suggests that there will be no power upgrades, so the 2024 RSV4 and Tuono V4 will retain their 1,099cc, V4 engines with 217 hp (214 hp, 162 KW) and 175 hp (172 hp, 130 KW) respectively.
It’s impossible to say for sure, however, even though no changes appear to have been made to the engine or exhaust system. The Tuono in particular would probably benefit from a certain increase in power in order to do justice to the aggressive MotoGP look and to have a better chance against its main competitors, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 and the BMW M 1000 R.
When will the presentation follow?
Since these are the first sightings, it is still too early to make any concrete statements. If it’s just a facelift with new fairings, the unveiling could come as early as the MotoGP weekend in Misano. Last year, the RSV4 XTrenta was presented there. Otherwise, the EICMA would be a good opportunity….
The winglet revolution?
With this update, the new RSV4 would be the first modern litre-class sports bike to draw direct aero inspiration from MotoGP. While wings are now commonplace in this class – as with the Ducati Panigale V4, Honda CBR1000RR-R and BMW S 1000 RR – none of these models come close to MotoGP racers. The same applies to the hyper-naked class, to which the Tuono V4 belongs, although here one must also ask whether this type of wing might really suit a naked bike.
