Triumph has released photos of the Tiger 1200 prototype. The large enduro model gets the engine of the Speed Triple 1200, although possibly in revised form.
Exact info or performance data is not yet available, but purely visually you can see the kinship with the engine of the Speed Triple 1200. The performance data of 180 PS and 125 Nm will probably not reach the engine in the Tiger, however, as it is certainly tuned for more power in the low and medium speed range.
The new Tiger should save quite a bit of weight due to the new and more compact engine alone. The new tubular frame and twin swingarm should also have a positive effect on weight. Triumph itself describes the Tiger 1200 as “lighter than many of its competitors.”
It can be assumed that the new model will have very good electronic equipment. The large shock absorber reservoir suggests an electronic suspension system.
