After just a few years of development, Benda has evolved from a virtually unknown manufacturer outside China to a company with a broad model range and unusual technical approaches. The design drawings that have now emerged point to another, significantly more complex project that is to be positioned above the existing V4 Cruisers.
New V4 engine as the basis
The cruiser shown in the drawings uses a new version of the well-known Benda V4 engine. Visually, the redesigned cylinders and cylinder heads as well as new engine covers, which create space for additional technology, are striking. Back in 2021, Benda announced that it was developing a larger V4 variant with a displacement of 1198 cubic centimeters. The manufacturer promised an output of 153.6 hp (113 kW) and a maximum torque of 121 Nm (89.3 lb ft) for this engine.
It has not been confirmed whether the motorcycle now on display is actually this engine variant. However, the dimensions and similarity to the previous Dark Flag 950 suggest that Benda is preparing its originally announced top model.
Automated clutch based on a familiar principle
A key innovation is the automated clutch. The system works on the same basic principle as Honda’s E Clutch. An electromechanical unit supplements the conventional lever-operated clutch. The rider can continue to clutch manually or leave the clutch work entirely to the electronics.
In automatic mode, it is possible to start, stop, and change gears without operating the clutch lever. Benda has already introduced this system in the V Twin Cruiser Rock 707. In the new design images, the corresponding technology is now also clearly visible on the right side of the V4 engine.
Chassis and technology from the existing modular system
The motorcycle shown appears to share its chassis with the Dark Flag 950. The frame, fork, and front brake system correspond in design and dimensions to the familiar model. At the rear, however, technology is used that has previously only been available on the top-of-the-range Rock 707.
The rear shock absorbers work with air pressure and allow height adjustment. This system is designed to enable the seat height and chassis tuning to be adapted to different requirements. Benda has not yet specified any concrete adjustment ranges or technical details.
Unique design with familiar elements
Although the basic design is reminiscent of the Dark Flag 500 and Dark Flag 950, none of the body parts are identical. The tank, side panels, and fairings have been redesigned. The front headlight is particularly striking. It combines a classic round shape with modern LED technology and does without a continuous lens. Instead, there is a central LED in the middle, surrounded by four openings.
The cockpit consists of a round color TFT display similar to the instrument panel on the Dark Flag 950. In addition, another display element is integrated into the tank, directly behind the fuel cap. It is not yet known what information will be displayed there.
Outlook for international markets
The motorcycle shown in the design drawings has not yet been presented to the public. Nevertheless, there are already concrete indications of an international market launch. Benda has signed a contract with an importer for Australia and has announced its intention to offer motorcycles there from 2026. A dedicated website is already online, where interested parties can register.
Whether and when the new V4 Cruiser will also be available in other markets remains to be seen. However, the current designs show that Benda is continuing its strategy of developing technically sophisticated cruiser concepts and gradually bringing them to series production.
