Already in 2019, Brixton showed the first pictures of a large-volume motorcycle, which is reminiscent of the Triumph Bonneville in terms of style. The motorcycle is now set to go into production.
Brixton designs the motorcycles in Austria, but has them built by the Chinese company Gaokin for cost reasons. Now documents have been submitted to the Chinese authorities to secure the intellectual property relating to the look of the motorcycle. Strictly speaking, only documents of the engine have been submitted so far, and the name Brixton is not in the documents either. But there are already pictures showing this exact engine (with Brixton branding) in the Bonneville rival. A few details emerge from the documents that were not known from the previous concept bike.
Retro look
From a purely visual standpoint, the engine gives the impression of being air-cooled, which evokes a certain retro charm. However, it is a modern and water-cooled unit, which can be seen from the corresponding connections.
Exact data about the engine is not yet available, but it is assumed that it is a similar design to the Bonneville twin. However, the fuel injection is not disguised as a carburetor. You can see a ride-by-wire throttle body arrangement. Each injector is mounted in the intake tract directly behind the throttle body, and the exhaust ports are angled outward. This achieves classically splayed header pipes familiar from the British Twins of the ’60s.
