The new RR variant appears for the first time in European registration documents and is set to be released as a 2026 model. Although no photos are available, the documents give a good impression of how KTM is further streamlining the already powerful Super Duke.
Weight reduction without performance gain
The 1390 Super Duke RR is expected to offer the same engine performance as the base model, i.e., 190.6 hp (140.2 kW) at 10,000 rpm and a torque of 145.1 Nm (107 lb-ft) at 8,000 rpm.
The focus is therefore clearly on weight management. At 204 kg (450 lbs) fully fueled, it undercuts the Super Duke R by around 8 kg.
The Akrapovič rear silencer, a road-legal titanium component with two stacked outlets already known from the accessories range, contributes to this significant difference. However, the weight savings are unlikely to come from the exhaust system alone. Previous RR models also featured a lithium-ion battery, forged alloy wheels, carbon fiber fairing parts, and a single-seat rear frame. It can therefore be assumed that KTM will once again use a similar package.
Chassis details: indications of a track-oriented setup
While the registration documents do not provide any specific information about the chassis, experience with the previous RR version suggests that it will be equipped with WP Apex Pro components. At that time, a 7746 shock absorber and 7548 forks were used, both with extensive manual adjustment options.
The 1390 RR could follow this approach, as KTM is likely to deliberately avoid electronic systems in order to reduce weight.
Dimensions and other technical features
According to the documents, the new RR will be 1.8 cm wider than the Super Duke R. The difference could be due to the use of racing brake and clutch guards. The length differs only minimally and is almost identical to the special Brabus 1400 R model, which also uses a single-seater configuration.
The wheelbase and tire sizes remain unchanged: 120/70-17 at the front and 200/55-17 at the rear.
Market launch planned for 2026 model
KTM is currently working to get its model offensive back on track after last year’s production problems.
The registration documents classified the 1390 Super Duke RR as a 2026 model year, which is why a presentation within the coming months seems likely.
