CFMoto 750SR-R with aero wheel cover: four-cylinder supersports bike with a racing focus

CFMoto is planning to enter the modern supersport mid-range segment with the upcoming 750SR-R – and is not only focusing on performance, but also on innovative aerodynamics.  A newly surfaced variant of the four-cylinder bike, which has not yet been officially unveiled, now shows an aerodynamic wheel cover for the exposed rear wheel.

New player in the mid-range supersport class

With the success of the “Next-Gen World Supersport” racing series, in which differently configured motorcycles are brought to a comparable performance level through technical rules, the segment of sporty mid-range bikes is booming.  Models such as Yamaha’s R9 illustrate the new interest.  CFMoto wants to provide a competitive alternative with the 750SR-R.  While the name 750SS is planned in the USA, the model will probably appear as the 750SR-R in other markets.

The new machine closes a gap in CFMoto’s line-up: it is positioned between the three-cylinder 675SS (known internationally as the 675SR-R) and the planned four-cylinder superbike with 1,000 cc, which has already been presented as the “Master of Speed” concept motorcycle.

New variant with aerodynamic rear wheel cover

The latest type approvals from China now show a revised version of the 750SR-R with an aerodynamic cover for the right rear wheel – a result of the one-sided single-sided swingarm, which exposes the wheel.  The component is not only intended to set visual accents, but also to offer clear aerodynamic benefits according to CFMoto’s patent documents.  It reduces air turbulence in the area of the rear wheel, improves stability at high speeds and at the same time contributes to cooling the rear brake system.

The cover is offered as an optional accessory and complements the already aggressively designed aerodynamics of the motorcycle with eye-catching winglets and integrated air ducts at the front.

Engine and technology: solid basis with potential for expansion

The 750SR-R is powered by a 749 cm³ four-cylinder in-line engine with the internal designation 472MV.  The engine has a bore of 72.0 mm and a stroke of 46.0 mm – identical to classic supersports bikes such as the Suzuki GSX-R750 or Yamaha YZF750R.  These values also correspond to the 675 model from CFMoto, which indicates a possible platform strategy and parts commonality (e.g. pistons, valves).

The maximum output is specified as 110 hp (81 kW) – a value that is below the level of older Japanese 750s, but fits in well with the performance class of current next-gen supersport models such as the Yamaha R9 or the QJMotor SRK 800 RR.  The maximum torque is not yet officially known, but is likely to be in the region of 70-75 Nm.

Weight, equipment and chassis

According to the Chinese registration documents, the weight of the machine is 213 kg (470 lbs).  This means that the 750SR-R is no lightweight, but is on a par with comparable competitors.  Deceleration is provided by radial four-piston Brembo callipers with GP-inspired air ducts for cooling.  The frame consists of a steel lattice tube chassis, as is already familiar from other CFMoto models.  The single-sided swingarm is reminiscent of the design lines of the manufacturer’s sporty small models.

Another detail is the new color design: In addition to the already familiar white and silver version, a version in black and silver has now been spotted.  The silver paint is striking, giving the impression of brushed aluminum or stainless steel – especially on the air intakes along the frame.

Outlook: Premiere is imminent

An official presentation of the model is expected to take place soon in China.  For Europe, an appearance at the major motorcycle trade fairs is expected at the end of the year.  Only then should all the technical details and plans for export become known.
