BWM revises the R 1250 GS Adventure. The successor model, R 1300 GS, has now been seen in initial tests.
The new model is still heavily camouflaged. Front, tank and sides were provided with dummies and painted in black to disguise the actual design. However, the bike looks a bit more compact than the previous model. Despite the camouflage, you can see a stronger revision of the front. The headlight have been moved further forward, making it a bit more a part of the distinctive beak. The a-symmetrical headlight design seems to have been abandoned. There is now a small free area above it, which will certainly accommodate the radar sensor for the automatic cruise control.
The necessary engine cooling is provided by twin radiators that can be seen protruding behind the plastic fairing on both sides. Not much can be seen of the new frame and the swing arm at the moment, as they are covered by plastic panels. Also the engine was hidden behind a cover. Since that doesn’t seem to be a problem for the cylinder heads either, the engine seems to be liquid cooled only and not air and liquid cooled like the R 1250 GS.
The rear muffler is smaller than on the previous model, though it doesn’t necessarily have to stay that way.
We still have to wait a while before the bike is unveiled. A presentation is not expected until the end of 2022.
