Fellows Ride Ruhrpott – 2026

Fellows Ride Ruhrpott – Motorcycles for Mental Health in the Heart of Germany’s Industrial Heartland
On September 12, 2026, the Fellows Ride rolls through Germany’s Ruhr Area for the first time. The charity motorcycle rally under the motto “Riding with an Open Visor” sends a powerful message for depression awareness and mental health – right in the heart of Germany’s largest metropolitan area, home to around 5.1 million people.
The Fellows Ride is an initiative of the Depression-Inclusion Foundation, founded by Thomas Lurz and Dieter Schneider. Since its first ride in Würzburg in 2021, the movement has been growing steadily: in 2026, Fellows Rides take place in numerous cities across Germany, Austria, and other European countries. The Ruhr Area is one of the newest locations in the Fellows Ride family.
The Mission: Talking Helps – Riding Connects
Depression is a widespread condition affecting around 5.3 million people in Germany alone – yet it is still far too rarely discussed openly. The Fellows Ride aims to change exactly that: motorcyclists of all brands and classes come together to set a visible sign against the stigmatization of mental health conditions.
The registered demonstration is escorted by police, ensuring a clear road for all participants. Everyone is welcome to join – it’s not about the brand of your motorcycle, it’s about the shared cause.
Donations and Impact
All donations collected go to regional mental health and depression support projects. The specific charity partner for the Ruhrpott location will be announced by the local organizing team. Previous Fellows Rides have collectively raised six-figure sums for regional support projects.
Participation and Registration
Participation in the Fellows Ride Ruhrpott is free of charge. A voluntary donation of 20 euros or more is recommended. Detailed information about the start point, destination, route, and schedule will be published on the official website fellowsride.com and via the Fellows Ride newsletter as soon as they are confirmed.
The Ruhr Area as a Venue
With its unique industrial heritage, wide roads connecting Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg, and Bochum, and a vibrant motorcycle community, the Ruhr Area provides the perfect backdrop for a charity motorcycle rally of this scale. Local coordinator Martin Kirchner from TU Dortmund University manages the organization on site.
