Laconia Motorcycle Week – 2027

104th edition of America’s oldest motorcycle rally
From June 12 to 20, 2027, Weirs Beach on Lake Winnipesaukee once again becomes the heart of American motorcycle culture — for the 104th time. Laconia Motorcycle Week is widely regarded as the oldest continuously held motorcycle rally in the United States, with roots reaching back to the summer of 1916, when riders first gathered for a so-called “Gypsy Tour” on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. A year later, in 1917, the Federation of American Motorcyclists (FAM) made Weirs Beach the tour’s official host site. Ever since, Laconia has ranked alongside Sturgis and Daytona Beach as one of the three most significant motorcycle gatherings in North America. The rally is organized by the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association under Executive Director Charlie St. Clair.
Nine days around Lake Winnipesaukee
The nine-day event is traditionally centered on Weirs Beach, where the Lakeside Avenue boardwalk turns into a continuous strip of vendor booths, live stages, and motorcycles of every make and era. Regular fixtures of the week include the Peter Makris Memorial Ride around Lake Winnipesaukee and guided rides through the Lakes Region and White Mountains, including the winding Kancamagus Highway. Racing has deep roots here too: the Loudon Classic at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in nearby Loudon continues a road-racing tradition dating back to 1938 and draws amateur and professional riders from across the country.
Tradition and program
Alongside the rides and racing, the week traditionally features a custom bike show with multiple judged classes, vendor booths lining the entire Weirs Beach strip, and live music and food vendors on the rally grounds. What began as a loosely organized “Gypsy Tour” in the 1910s has grown into one of the largest recurring motorcycle gatherings in the US, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to the Lakes Region every year.
Weirs Beach as a destination
Laconia sits in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, roughly a two-hour drive north of Boston. The area is known for its lake scenery and the winding mountain roads of the White Mountains — a popular riding destination well beyond rally week. Lodging in and around Laconia traditionally books up early during rally week, and several regional campgrounds offer rally-specific packages.
Admission and getting there
Access to the Weirs Beach strip and most outdoor areas is traditionally free. Individual program items, such as the races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, carry separate ticket prices. Riders coming from the south typically take Interstate 93 north. Current program details, ticket information, and the official rally magazine are published ahead of the event at laconiamcweek.com.
