Honda has introduced the Montesa Cota 301RR. It is to replace the 300RR and is a true world championship bike.

That the trial bike is meant for the competition can also be recognized by the addition “RR”, which stands for Race Ready. It’s basically the same bike that  Gabriel Marcelli became World Champion in Trial2 .

The trial bike is made entirely at the Montesa Honda factory in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda (Barcelona).

The capacity has been increased from 288cc to 298cc, which corresponds to the maximum allowed capacity in the Trial2 World Championship. Pistons and cylinders were enlarged.

Some changes will also get the ECU. The crankcase decompression system has been redesigned and this reducing the engine brake significantly. It should feel much easier and more controllable. The crankcase breather has grown from 1.9 mm to 2.25 mm.

Changes to the engine and a redesigned aluminum silencer (the inner tube was enlarged) could increase the torque over the entire speed range (up to 16%).
