The KTM 490 Duke will be the first model of the future 500cc range. Now for the first time Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM, talked about it in an interview and confirmed it for 2022.
In the interview, the open secret was confirmed for the first time. We can assume that this 500cc series will run under the name 490 at KTM. As with the other displacement sizes, the engine is expected to be used in a whole range of different bikes. Whether these models will be manufactured at Bajaj in India or in China at CFMoto is still open.
The engine is said to be a two-cylinder developed by Bajaj with KTM support. It is the first two-cylinder that Bajaj has ever built. It is said to produce about 60 hp and close the gap between the 390 and 890 series.
