- Mechanical airbag system without app, battery, or subscription
- Combination of an airbag and six CE-certified protectors
- Removable pant legs for use as shorts in hot weather
Following on from its well-known airbag jeans, the Swedish manufacturer is now launching two new models for touring, commuting, and adventure riders. According to the manufacturer, the S51 and S52 have been specially designed for long periods of wear, changing weather conditions, and high temperatures.

Focus on impact protection instead of sliding accidents
Mo’cycle justifies the development with the assumption that serious motorcycle accidents often do not occur as controlled slides, but as abrupt impacts. Accordingly, the focus of the new pants is on a so-called impact-first approach. Abrasion resistance is combined with an active airbag system that provides additional protection for the lower body in the event of a fall.
Two versions for different uses
The Adventure Airbag Pants are available in two versions:
S51 AAA Blue
The S51 is designed for maximum abrasion resistance and is aimed at riders who frequently ride in changing conditions. According to the manufacturer, it is particularly versatile, for example on long trips or in the adventure sector.
S52 AA Water-Repellent Black
The S52 features a water-repellent material and an inconspicuous black look. According to Mo’cycle, it is designed for use in changeable weather, in everyday life and on longer tours.
Modular concept with airbag technology
The core component of both pants is the manufacturer’s IBV1 airbag module. This is a flat, mechanically triggered system that does not require electronic control. It needs neither a battery nor an app and is therefore said to be particularly predictable and reliable. According to the manufacturer, the CO₂ cartridge can be replaced after activation and the system can be used again.
The airbag module was developed by Mo’cycle and is manufactured in collaboration with French airbag specialist Helite. The partnership has been in place since the prototype phase and is intended to ensure consistent manufacturing quality.

Airbag and protectors as a combination
Mo’cycle pursues the concept of viewing airbags and classic protectors not as alternatives, but as complementary elements. While the airbag is designed to absorb greater forces and reduce rotational movements in the event of a fall, the six CE-certified protectors are intended for specific impacts. Compared to the airbag jeans, which are equipped with four protectors, the adventure pants offer two additional points of protection.
Ventilation and shorts mode for high temperatures
A key feature of the S51 and S52 is the modular ventilation concept. The lower legs can be completely zipped off, allowing the pants to be worn as shorts while the airbag system remains active. According to the manufacturer, this allows heat to be dissipated within seconds without having to forego airbag protection.
Extension to the full-spine airbag concept
In combination with an airbag jacket from the manufacturer, this results in a so-called full-spine airbag approach. According to Mo’cycle, all 33 vertebrae from the cervical to the coccyx are covered by airbags. This system is designed to stabilize the neck before impact and enable rescue workers to secure the patient after an accident.
Experience and classification
According to the manufacturer, eleven riders have so far escaped serious injury after serious accidents while wearing Mo’cycle airbag clothing. The company also refers to media reports and awards. This information comes from manufacturer and press releases and cannot be independently verified in full.

Availability and pre-order
The Adventure Airbag Pants S51 and S52 are only available for pre-order. According to Mo’cycle, they do not produce for stock, but in batches after orders have been received. Shipping of the current series is scheduled for March or April 2026, but may be delayed depending on the production process and region.
What does this mean for me as a motorcyclist?
For motorcyclists, this concept primarily means a different approach to protective clothing. Instead of relying solely on abrasion resistance and classic protectors, the lower body area is actively incorporated into the safety concept. This can be particularly relevant in the event of high-impact crashes, such as those that can occur in everyday life, on tours, or during adventure riding. At the same time, the design aims to keep the pants wearable for many hours. Ventilation, removable pant legs, and the absence of electronic components are intended to increase comfort and reduce maintenance. The bottom line is a garment that combines protection, everyday practicality, and flexibility without completely abandoning the character of normal motorcycle pants.
