Honda presented a complete revision for their little fun motorcycle. Besides a new engine, the look was changed into a retro style and a new name is being added on top.

Long tradition and many names

The small Honda Monkey was developed in 1963 and offered not only easy handling and functionality but also a lot of fun. Over the years the name changed again and again and also on different markets there were different names in between. Dax, Ape, Monkey and finally Grom were some names. The new model now gets the name MSX125 Grom, at least in Europe.

Changed optics

The bodywork was completely redesigned. The fairing is easily removable to support an easy individualization. The new LC-display has been completed with a rev counter and a gear indicator. The settings for trip meter, the clock, the change between the odometers is done with the switches on the sides of the display. A fuel gauge is also available.

  • Newly designed bodywork enhances the possibilities for individualization
  • High customizing potential, because all four cladding parts are equipped with
  • only six screws fixed on each side
  • The LC-Display now also contains rev counter and gear display
  • colors: Force Silver Metallic, Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic or Gayety Red

New engine

Propulsion is provided by a new air-cooled 125cc two-valve engine with 50 mm bore and 63.1 mm stroke. It delivers 9.8 HP or 7.2 kW at 7,250 rpm and a torque of 10.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. It complies with the Euro5 standards.

Also new is the 5-speed transmission, previously a 4-speed transmission was used. The top speed is specified as 94 km/h. The new MXS125 Grom should be able to handle both speedy rides through the dense city traffic and comfortable cruising.
