Perfect conditions and good preparation
The weather was at its best: bright sunshine and mild temperatures created ideal conditions for the event. The authorities were also well prepared. The access road to Münchener Straße had already been signposted on the surrounding highways in advance. Unlike in previous years, when road closures were implemented gradually depending on the number of participants, this year the direct access road was reserved exclusively for bikers right from the start. All other road users were consistently diverted. The affected area was completely closed to regular traffic from the early hours of the morning until around 2 pm.
No motorcycle checks were carried out, which was also usual in previous years. However, the emergency services not only positioned themselves at the access roads to close the “event area” to all “non-bikers”, they also positioned themselves at various points along the extensive route and sometimes changed their locations. The only noticeable feature was the presence of individual police officers with cameras – whether these were used for documentation purposes, social media or other purposes is unclear.
Biker diversity and rocker clubs in harmony
In addition to numerous private individuals, well-known motorcycle clubs also took part in the ride, including the Hells Angels and the Bandidos. According to the police, the meeting of the clubs was peaceful – in Nuremberg, the relationship between the groups is almost uniquely friendly throughout Europe, explained police spokesman Michael Petzold. However, the participation of such clubs is often strongly emphasized in the media. Reference is often made to the deployment of the support squad in the previous year, although it was only a brief verbal altercation between individuals. The actual situation at the time was therefore far less dramatic than it was sometimes portrayed.
Overall, the atmosphere was relaxed and respectful. The spectators along the route were also enthusiastic about the impressive backdrop of roaring machines and flashing chrome. However, the event attracted more than just motorcyclists: Many families and onlookers took advantage of May 1 to take a trip to Münchener Straße to witness the spectacle live. Accordingly, there were also numerous “non-bikers” on site who did not want to miss out on the unique atmosphere.
Two accidents marred the picture slightly
Despite the peaceful atmosphere, there were two accidents in which a total of four people were injured. Particularly tragic: at around 10 a.m., an 18-year-old female Yamaha rider collided with a 62-year-old man who was parking his motorcycle. The young woman crashed heavily and suffered a fracture to her leg. Rescue workers treated her at the scene before she was taken to hospital. The police used loudspeaker announcements to draw attention to this and asked for the necessary space for the ambulance to drive through – at times this led to considerable congestion and restrictions on the popular drive through the event area.
Another rear-end collision occurred later when leaving the site. Two men and one woman were slightly injured. All cases are currently being investigated by the Nuremberg traffic police.
Fewer shows, longer stay
What was noticeable this year was the generally more restrained riding behavior of many participants. While in previous years some bikers still occasionally performed wheelies or other small show acts when accelerating out of the grounds, there was hardly any of this to be seen in 2025. There was also less of this to be seen on the opposite side of the road, towards the city. This could be due to the fact that the event has become bigger overall and space has become scarcer as a result – especially as the section between the actual end of the event and the next set of traffic lights has become quite short and there were also more bikes parked and pedestrians on the road towards the city.
Another difference: the length of stay. While in previous years the square was empty again by midday, this time many bikers stayed on site for much longer or set off on their own tours directly from there.
Conclusion: A peaceful major event with exemplary character
Despite the two unfortunate accidents, the conclusion of the May 2025 ride remains positive. With around 30,000 motorcycles taking part and corresponding crowds of spectators, the event was remarkably calm and civilized. The good preparation of the police and the considerate behavior of the bikers contributed to the fact that this XXL meeting can once again be considered a complete success this year.
