With the SV-7GX, Suzuki is expanding its mid-range segment with a versatile crossover tourer. The model combines sport, touring, and adventure features, with the proven 645cc V-twin engine attracting particular attention. Despite the introduction of the new 800cc inline twin, this engine remains in the lineup and is given a new stage with the SV-7GX.

With the SV-7GX, Suzuki is expanding its mid-range segment with a versatile crossover tourer. The model combines sport, touring, and adventure features, with the proven 645cc V-twin engine attracting particular attention. Despite the introduction of new 800cc inline twins, this engine remains in the lineup and is given a new stage with the SV-7GX.

Engine and drive: further development of the well-known V-twin

The focus is on the revised 645cc V-twin, which has been used in numerous Suzuki models since 1999. The latest evolutionary stage with modern electronics and optimized components is used for the SV-7GX. The maximum power output is 54 kW (73 hp) at 8,500 rpm, and the maximum torque is 64 Newton meters at 6,800 rpm. The top speed is stated as approximately 190 km/h.

The V-twin features a ride-by-wire system, downdraft throttle valves, optimized fuel injectors, and dual ignition with iridium spark plugs. The SCEM cylinder coating and coated pistons reduce internal friction. The 2-in-1 exhaust system and revised intake tract support torque-oriented power delivery and, according to Suzuki, produce a characteristic sound.

Modern electronics and driver assistance systems

The SV-7GX is equipped with the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), which includes features such as the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) with three riding modes, three-stage traction control (can be switched off), and a bidirectional quickshifter. Added to this are comfort features such as Low RPM Assist, Easy Start System, and ABS. These systems are designed to increase everyday usability and ensure safety and comfort even on longer journeys.

Chassis and ergonomics

For the chassis, Suzuki has opted for a steel trellis frame that combines rigidity and flexibility. Suspension is provided by a 41 mm telescopic fork at the front and a centrally mounted shock absorber at the rear, with seven-stage adjustable preload. The braking system consists of dual 290 mm diameter discs and four-piston calipers at the front and a single 240 mm disc at the rear.

With a curb weight of 211 kg (465 lbs) and a low seat height of 795 mm (31.3 in), the SV-7GX remains accessible despite its visual presence. The wide, tapered aluminum handlebars (740 mm) ensure an upright, touring-friendly seating position. The fuel tank holds 17.4 liters (4.5 gal), which allows for everyday ranges. Pirelli Angel GT II 17-inch tires are used.

Aerodynamics, design, and comfort

The SV-7GX’s half fairing is wind tunnel-optimized and equipped with a three-stage adjustable windshield and aerodynamically designed hand guards. An ergonomically shaped, generously padded seat and steel tank are designed for long-distance comfort. The design of the SV-7GX is based on the GSX-S1000GX and combines sporty lines with a compact silhouette.

Electronics, connectivity, and equipment

The cockpit features a 4.2-inch TFT color display that shows information on riding modes, traction control, and quickshifter. Suzuki Ride Connect+ allows you to connect your smartphone via Bluetooth to integrate navigation, weather and traffic reports, call and messaging notifications, and riding data directly into the display. A USB-C charging socket is standard.

Lighting is provided by a centrally positioned LED projection headlight with low beam and high beam functions, complemented by slim LED position lights.

Accessories and variants

Suzuki supplies the SV-7GX with luggage and top case racks and hand guards as standard. The original accessories range includes an 80 mm higher touring windscreen, a comfort seat (+25 mm seat height), a 14-liter tank bag, variable soft cases (15 to 20 liters volume per side) and a top case with 45 liters capacity.

The SV-7GX is available in three color options:

  • Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Triton Blue (BQJ)
  • Pearl Matte Greige (Q2A)
  • Glass Sparkle Black (YVB)

Suzuki will announce the price and market launch at a later date.
