Ducati’s triumph in the racing world: double MotoGP World Championship title and record-breaking season

Ducati once again made history in the motorsport world in 2023 by winning world titles in MotoGP, WorldSBK and WorldSSP, led by stars such as Francesco Bagnaia. These outstanding achievements demonstrate Ducati’s technical superiority and consistent pursuit of perfection in racing.

Ducati’s dominance in motorcycle racing

In the world of motorcycle racing, Ducati has achieved impressive dominance with Francesco Bagnaia once again confirmed as MotoGP World Champion.  This achievement was accomplished with the Ducati Lenovo Team’s Desmosedici GP, giving Ducati its second consecutive MotoGP World Championship title.  This crowns a record-breaking season for the Borgo Panigale-based company that is unparalleled in the world of motorcycle racing.

Technological excellence and passion as a trademark

Ducati’s technology and passion have become benchmarks in international racing.  No other motorcycle manufacturer has ever won the Riders’ and Constructors’ World Championship titles in MotoGP and WorldSBK in two consecutive seasons.  In the 2023 season, Ducati Corse was able to build on this success story and won both the Riders’ and Constructors’ World Championship titles in WorldSSP.

Overcoming limits and breaking records

These successes are testimony to the fact that boundaries are there to be broken.  Challenges should be mastered and records broken.  Ducati has demonstrated this impressively.

Repeating history: Campioni del Mondo

By winning the Valencia Grand Prix, the Italian duo Francesco Bagnaia and the Ducati Lenovo Team’s Desmosedici GP secured the MotoGP World Championship title for the second time in a row.  This historic event underlines Ducati’s ability to remain at the forefront of racing.

Philosophy of continuous improvement

The successes of Bagnaia in MotoGP, Álvaro Bautista in WorldSBK and Nicolò Bulega in WorldSSP are an expression of a clear philosophy in Borgo Panigale: the quest for improvement knows no bounds.  This philosophy is also reflected in the outstanding technical performance of the Ducati motorcycles, which are regarded as the best in their class in their respective championships.

Unique successes and technical superiority

Ducati is the only non-Japanese manufacturer to have won a world championship in MotoGP and has now won the riders’ title for the third time.  In the Superbike World Championship, riders from Borgo Panigale have already won 16 world championship titles.  The 2023 MotoGP season showed a remarkable technical superiority of Ducati, with records such as the highest number of overall victories in a season (17 out of 20 Grand Prix) and the highest number of different riders to have won at least one Grand Prix.

Claudio Domenicali’s statement and the future prospects

Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati, emphasized the extraordinary joy and awareness of currently being the best in the world of racing.  He praised Bagnaia for an incredible season and emphasized the importance of the team and the Ducati community.  The celebrations for the MotoGP, WorldSBK and WorldSSP World Championships are scheduled for December 15th in Bologna.

Figures that prove Ducati’s dominance in 2023

  • In MotoGP, Ducati achieved 17 victories, 6 different winning riders, 9 races with Ducati-only podiums and 44 podiums in total.
  • In WorldSBK, Álvaro Bautista achieved 27 victories, making him the most successful Ducati rider in the history of the Superbike World Championship.
  • In WorldSSP, Nicolò Bulega achieved 16 victories and Ducati riders a total of 33 podium finishes.
