Classic TT – 2026
Classic TT 2026 – Historic Racing on the Mountain Course
The Classic TT returns to the legendary Snaefell Mountain Course on the Isle of Man from 19 to 28 August 2026. Over ten days, experienced road racers and former TT winners compete on historic racing machines – on the same 37.73-mile (60.725 km) public road course that has hosted the Isle of Man TT since 1907. The Classic TT is the world’s premier event for classic motorcycle road racing.
Classes and Programme
The Classic TT race programme features several classes covering different eras and engine capacities of historic racing motorcycles:
- Classic Superbike – The premier class of the Classic TT: superbikes from the 1980s and early 1990s, including Honda RC30, Yamaha OW01, Suzuki GSX-R and Kawasaki ZXR machines. Four laps of the Mountain Course.
- Classic Senior & Junior – Classic Grand Prix machinery with two-stroke and four-stroke engines across various displacement classes. The Senior class for the larger engines, the Junior for mid-range capacity machines.
- Lightweight Classic – Small, nimble racing machines up to 250cc – the class where technical finesse triumphs over raw power.
- Classic Sidecar – Historic outfits on the Mountain Course: three wheels, two crew members and over 200 corners across 37 miles – one of the most spectacular classes in all of road racing.
The first practice weekend shares the schedule with the Manx Grand Prix (16–24 August), which runs on the same course. The Classic TT race week extends from 23 to 28 August, with the main races taking place on the final days.
Riders and Entry List
The Classic TT attracts a unique entry list: former TT and Grand Prix winners, active road racing stars, and passionate privateers who bring their own lovingly prepared machines to the start line. Past entries have included riders such as Michael Dunlop, Dean Harrison, John McGuinness, Peter Hickman and Jamie Coward – many of them with multiple TT victories to their name.
The Isle of Man as a Travel Destination
The Isle of Man lies in the Irish Sea between England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The self-governing British Crown Dependency is accessible by ferry with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company from Liverpool, Heysham and Belfast, as well as by air from several British and Irish airports. Beyond motorsport, the island offers spectacular coastal landscapes, the historic steam and electric railway, Victorian architecture in the capital Douglas, and the famous Laxey Wheel – the world’s largest working waterwheel.
For visitors to the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix, August on the island is a special time: less crowded than during the TT in May/June, but with the same unique atmosphere – the scent of castor oil, the thunder of engines through the villages, and the hospitality of the islanders who have carried motorsport in their DNA for over a century.
