Sunday Parade Cancelled Due to Heat

The Hamburg Harley Days return for their 21st edition from June 26 to 28, 2026, at Hamburg’s Großmarkt, but the traditional closing parade on Sunday has been cancelled. The reason is a heat warning issued by the German Weather Service (DWD) with temperatures of up to 38 degrees Celsius. The roughly 30-kilometer route normally rolls as a convoy across the Köhlbrand Bridge, through HafenCity, along the harbor and down the Reeperbahn. Under the forecast conditions, the organizers consider it impossible to hold the parade responsibly. „Die Gesundheit und Sicherheit aller Beteiligten haben für uns oberste Priorität“ (The health and safety of everyone involved is our top priority), says Jascha Bergmann of the organizing bergmanngruppe. According to him, not only the riders with hot engines and under their helmets would be affected, but also other road users along the route. Because of the same heat wave, Hamburg’s half marathon with around 24,000 registered runners was also cancelled the same weekend.

Europe’s Biggest Inner-City Biker Event

Apart from the parade, the entire program runs as planned. On the Großmarkt grounds near the harbor and the Reeperbahn, the Harley community gathers once again on the last weekend of June. According to the organizers, the Hamburg Harley Days, with around 60,000 visitors a year on roughly 40,000 square meters, rank as Europe’s biggest inner-city biker event. Under the motto „Mehr Bike. Mehr Style. Mehr Harley!“ (More Bike. More Style. More Harley!), guests can expect a program of dealer mile, test rides, shows and live music.

What Heat Protection Measures Are in Place?

The festival takes place with additional precautions against the heat. According to the organizers, the number of sunshades has been doubled, additional water dispensers are being set up, and alongside free tap water, sunscreen is provided. Water hoses cool down the grounds, and in the Men of Mayhem area a pool offers refreshment. Guests are advised to ensure adequate sun protection, drink regularly, wear headgear and be considerate of one another. An event hotline is available for questions at +49 40 41009515.

Program Highlights and Activities

At the heart of the event is the Harley Village, where the official dealers present the latest models from Milwaukee along with accessories and apparel. The H.O.G. and Free Chapter area brings together chapters from across Europe, with the Welcome Party scheduled for Friday evening. The lineup is rounded out by the Used Bike Market with pre-owned machines and guided tours into the Hamburg countryside. Daily stunt shows provide the thrills, including world record holder DOP. In a tattoo area, more than 20 artists work in almost 40 booths. At the Demo Rides, current models such as the Pan America 1250 Special or the Street Glide can be tested, provided a valid riding license is held.

Custombike Show, Sisters Corner and Live Music

The craftsmanship focus is set by the Custombike Show on Saturday, held as a classic ride-in show without prior registration at Gate North (Amsinckstraße). Up to 100 customized machines are expected, judged by an expert jury in seven categories: Best Sportster, Best Softail, Best Watercooled, Best Touring, Best Clubstyle, Best Historic and Best of Show. Line-up and registration are possible from 10 a.m., the jury tour begins around 2 p.m., and the award ceremony takes place around 5:30 p.m. on the main stage. A total of 2,000 Euro in prize money is awarded, 250 Euro each for the category winners and 500 Euro for the overall winner „Best of Show“.

With the new Sisters Corner, the event puts a stronger spotlight on women in the scene. The area offers space for exchange, styling and fashion, plus a prize draw with a photo shoot, with a motorcycle license as the main prize. The meeting point for a joint ladies’ ride is on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. at the Beach Elbterrassen in Övelgönne, with departure to the Sisters Corner planned for around 11:30 a.m.

Musically, the program is spread across the Main Stage and the Village Stage. The top act is Ray Wilson, the former singer of Genesis. The lineup also includes The Crossfyre, the Rockhouse Brothers, On the Trail and the band Curran, which has toured with Thin Lizzy and Kiefer Sutherland. A metal choir is announced as well.
