What the IMOT means: kicking off the 2027 motorcycle season
The IMOT – International Motorcycle Show – has been one of Germany’s largest and longest-running sales and information shows dedicated to powered two-wheelers since 1994. In 2027 it takes place for the 34th time, from 12 to 14 February, traditionally marking the start of the new motorcycle season. For the fourth year running, the show is held at the Munich-Riem exhibition centre, after previously being based at other venues in and around Munich. With more than 130,000 visitors per year and over 250 exhibitors, the IMOT is one of the biggest crowd-pullers among Germany’s motorcycle shows.
Exhibitors and new models
The major motorcycle manufacturers traditionally use the IMOT to present their current model ranges on dedicated stages – among them BMW Motorrad, for whom the show is effectively a home game given its proximity to the brand’s Munich headquarters, as well as Suzuki, Kawasaki and the Chinese manufacturer Benda, which gave visitors a look into its design process at a dedicated ‘Design Space’ in 2026. The manufacturer line-up is complemented by numerous exhibitors from the apparel, accessories, tuning and motorcycle travel sectors, along with accessory brands such as Cardo Systems for communication systems.
Supporting programme and special activities
The centrepiece of the supporting programme is the IMOT Arena, which in 2026 was given its own hall (C3) for the first time, boosting the show’s entertainment factor: freestyle motocross by the WreckingCrew, two-wheel shows by Dirk Manderbach and former racer Bernd Hiemer, appearances by the international GS Trophy Team Germany, and trial demonstrations by TuS Fürstenfeldbruck. In the newly introduced IMOT Forum, riders and experts discussed riding technique, travel reports and other motorcycling topics. Other crowd favourites included the ‘wheelie simulator’ with Dirk Manderbach, the Creator Area featuring customised bikes from influencers, and the Classic Superbike special show with historic racing machines. Whether these formats return in similar form in 2027 will be announced by the IMOT on its website in the coming months.
Combined ticket with f.re.e and the Munich Auto Days
The IMOT takes place at the same time as the travel and leisure fair f.re.e and the Munich Auto Days. A single ticket, once validated, grants access to all three shows at the Trade Fair Center Messe München on the same day – a benefit for visitors also interested in travel or cars alongside motorcycles.
Admission and tickets
According to the organiser, ticket prices for IMOT 2027 will be published from December 2026 and can then be purchased online via the IMOT website. Online tickets are reportedly three euros cheaper than tickets bought at the box office on site, though box offices remain available. Children up to and including age five receive free tickets at the info counters when accompanied by an adult. Each ticket grants single entry on one show day.
Opening hours and getting there
The Munich-Riem exhibition centre sits directly on the A94 motorway and can be reached via the Feldkirchen-West or München-Riem exits. Munich’s U2 underground line connects the ‘Messestadt Ost’ station to the main station in around 20 minutes without changing trains. Outdoor parking costs 12 euros per day, multi-storey parking 16 euros; motorcycles park free of charge in the designated areas. An alternative car park ‘am Mitterfeld’ is available during the show for 6 euros with shuttle service. The exhibition centre is designed to be barrier-free, with wheelchairs available at the entrance area; a telephone reservation is recommended.
