Bagnaia’s lonely escape and Martin’s patient wait
After the first-lap chaos, Bagnaia was running a lonely race at the front. Behind him, the field reshuffled. Acosta initially held second place but unintentionally acted as a rolling roadblock for the riders behind. Joan Mir had gotten a strong start from fifth and was briefly involved in the battle for the podium.
Martin worked his way forward patiently. On lap four, he first overtook Mir and then Acosta, putting himself into second place. However, Bagnaia had already built a gap of 1.4 seconds by this point. Then came lap eight, and with it the next turning point. Bezzecchi, who was chasing Bagnaia, lost control of his Aprilia at turn one. The rear end lifted under braking, the front washed out, and the championship leader slid into the gravel. It was Bezzecchi’s second sprint crash of the season after Thailand, costing him not only valuable points but also the championship lead.
Martin was back in second place but still had over a second’s gap to Bagnaia. Yet this was precisely when his bold tire choice began to pay off. While Bagnaia was increasingly struggling for grip on the soft rear tire, Martin was able to maintain and even increase his pace on the medium compound. In the final two laps, Martin devoured the gap. Bagnaia was lapping in the 2:03 range at this point, while Martin was in the low 2:01s — a difference of almost two seconds per lap.
On the final lap, Martin was on Bagnaia’s rear wheel and struck at the end of the back straight at turn twelve. It was a hard move that pushed the Ducati rider wide, but both bikes stayed on track. Martin pulled away and won by a margin of 0.755 seconds.

“It’s been a wild two years without a win here. And I really missed it,” said a visibly moved Martin on the podium. He knew the medium tire was the right choice, even though it was a risk. “I took a maybe risky decision going with the medium, but I knew inside of myself that it was the right choice,” he explained. Martin dedicated the victory to his team, who had supported him through the difficult journey back from injuries and the switch to Aprilia.

Acosta under investigation, Mir crashes on the final lap
Behind the battle for victory, further dramas unfolded. Pedro Acosta held third place for much of the race but constantly had to fend off attacks from Joan Mir. The Honda rider had shown an outstanding race and was on course for the podium at times. On the final lap, however, Mir crashed at turn one and dropped to 15th.
Acosta thus saved his third place, finishing 2.484 seconds behind Martin. However, this result is also provisional, as the KTM rider is under investigation for a possible tire pressure infringement. Should Acosta be penalized, Enea Bastianini would move up to the podium as fourth-place finisher. The Tech3 KTM rider showed a strong race with numerous overtaking moves and finished the sprint 3.199 seconds adrift.
Alex Marquez finished fifth on the Gresini Ducati, followed by Luca Marini on the factory Honda in sixth. The two Trackhouse Aprilias of Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez took seventh and eighth. Johann Zarco scored the final point in ninth on the LCR Honda.

Two further investigations, in which Marquez allegedly impeded Bastianini and Ogura allegedly impeded Bagnaia, ended without sanction.
Also absent from the start was Maverick Viñales. The Tech3 KTM rider had withdrawn from the weekend after the first free practice session on Friday. A loose screw in his surgically repaired left shoulder, which he had injured at the German Grand Prix last July, was causing him too much pain.
