Free maintenance as a solution
To resolve this problem, Dainese has committed to servicing the affected helmets free of charge. A special lubricant will be used to ensure that the friction does not impair the functionality of the affected components. Dainese plans to inform owners and dealers on April 12th of this year.
No reports of injuries, but caution is advised
To date, Dainese is not aware of any reports of deaths or injuries related to this issue. It is worth noting that all reports of fastener failure have been made outside the United States.
The path to discovering the problem
Concern about the micrometric buckle began in December 2022 when a rider reported the absence of a clicking sound when the chinstrap locked. Investigations by Dainese in 2023 revealed that many components of the buckle were out of tolerance. Although the automatic part of the fastener did not always work, it turned out that manual operation led to perfect functioning.
