Engine and technology: Clear parallels to the Himalayan prototype
Although technical data is not yet available, the engine visible in the photos bears a strong resemblance to the unit that already caught the eye in the Himalayan 750 prototype. An increase in displacement is likely to be primarily a response to increasingly stringent emissions standards. With more volume, it should be possible to maintain engine performance while complying with future registration requirements.
Classic chassis with new details
Apart from the engine, the chassis of the new Continental GT remains very similar to the current model. The characteristic twin shocks at the rear, ByBre brakes, and conventional cartridge forks at the front are still visible. The bench-style seat has also been retained. However, the striking café racer fairing on the test motorcycle is new – but it remains to be seen whether this part will also be found on the production model. It could also be an optical illusion designed to conceal technical innovations.
Emissions measurement and production readiness
Another striking feature is the new lambda sensor, which is positioned directly behind the manifold. It apparently sends emissions data to the various recording devices attached to the passenger seat of the test bike. This suggests that work is currently underway to fine-tune the exhaust technology.
The condition of the photographed motorcycle suggests that development is already well advanced. Although there is currently no official release date for either the Continental GT 750 or the Himalayan 750, there is speculation that a presentation at EICMA in November seems realistic.
