Dean Harrison opened the session on his Honda Racing Superbike as the first rider on the track. Peter Hickman followed shortly behind on a Superstock motorcycle. The field was completed by David Johnson (Superbike), Ian Hutchinson, Michael Dunlop and James Hillier (all Superstock), as well as TT legend John McGuinness MBE on another Superbike machine.
Crash by Peter Hickman causes interruption
The session initially picked up speed when Davey Todd set the first fast times. Dean Harrison led the field on the track towards Parliament Square. But at around 18:40, the session was interrupted by a red flag. The reason was an incident involving Peter Hickman, who crashed the #10 bike in the Kerrowmoar area.
An official update followed shortly before 19:30: Hickman was conscious and in stable condition at the time of the announcement. He was taken by Airmed to Noble’s Hospital for further examination. Further information on his health is to follow.
Weather change ends session prematurely
While the returning riders arrived back in the paddock, rain began to fall in some sections of the track. Due to the change in weather conditions and the previous interruption, race control under Gary Thompson decided to cancel the rest of the session.
Next qualifying date already set
The next qualifying session at the Isle of Man TT 2025 is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. Whether and to what extent this session can be held as planned remains to be seen in view of the changeable weather.
