Technical data: Four-cylinder with modern equipment
At the heart of the 500SR Voom is a liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 499 cm³. It delivers 78 hp (57 kW) at an as yet unconfirmed rpm. The maximum torque is 49 Nm (36 lb-ft). Power is transmitted via a six-speed transmission combined with a quickshifter and a slipper clutch. The frame consists of a lightweight chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame, as used in other CFMoto models.
Retro meets modern: features and design
The design of the 500SR Voom, with its curved front and two round air intakes, is reminiscent of legendary models such as the Honda VFR400R, Suzuki GSX-R400, and Kawasaki ZXR400 from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The round elements do not serve as classic headlights, but as ram air intakes for the air filter box, surrounded by LED daytime running lights. The main light is discreetly hidden beneath the front fairing and has a rectangular shape.
The equipment includes a 5-inch TFT display with navigation function, gear shift indicator, and other display options. The chassis offers adjustable rebound suspension, while radially mounted brake calipers at the front provide deceleration. Modern electronics and high-quality workmanship underline the sporty aspirations.
Differences between the Asian and European versions
According to the published patents, the version intended for Europe has some noticeable differences from the Asian variant. The most obvious are the closed wheel covers on the rear wheel and the MotoGP-inspired brake vents on the front brake discs. These aerodynamic covers improve cooling and efficiency. In addition, the rear license plate has been repositioned and is now located almost at the outer edge of the rear tire – an adjustment that could comply with European registration regulations. The remaining components, such as the exhaust system, rearview mirrors, and quickshifter, remain unchanged.
Variants and pricing policy
CFMoto is known for bringing different variants of its SR sport bikes to market. There is speculation that a sportier version called the 500SR-S Voom could follow, offering additional visual or technical upgrades. In Australia, where the 500SR Voom is already officially available, the price is on par with the CFMoto 675NK Roadster. The price there is equivalent to around 6,000 euros (approx. 6,450 US dollars), which means attractive positioning in the market environment. No official information is available for Europe yet.
Market launch and competition
It is not yet known when the CFMoto 500SR Voom will be available in Europe. Experts suspect it will be presented at EICMA in fall 2025. If the 500SR Voom comes to Europe, it would probably be priced below sporty competitors such as the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R, which currently costs around €8,400 (approx. US$9,000). This would give the Voom the potential to tap into a new buyer segment for classic four-cylinder sport bikes.
Outlook
The 500SR Voom combines classic sports bike design with modern technology and could therefore meet with keen interest in Europe. The latest patent images suggest that CFMoto is seriously considering a market launch in Europe. Final confirmation remains to be seen.
