Impact of KTM’s insolvency
In 2024, MV Agusta recorded a significant jump in sales figures. Compared to 2023, sales figures rose by 116 percent. This extraordinary success forms the basis for the 2025 target. Originally, a further increase was planned, but KTM’s financial difficulties led to significant restrictions in production. Production had to be halted at times, which had a particularly severe impact on the first quarter of 2025. The second quarter was also affected by the aftermath.
Ownership structure and strategic orientation
Following the complete takeover of the company by the Sardarov family, MV Agusta is realigning itself. In addition to stabilizing its core business, the brand is focusing on new strategic goals. These include the planned entry into MotoGP in 2027. A comprehensive renewal of the product range has been announced for the 2026 model year, with a focus on new segments.
Production planning and inventory
Production at MV Agusta is now back up and running, with the company expecting to manufacture around 300 to 400 motorcycles per month. One of the challenges currently facing the company is reducing existing inventory from the KTM factories. Only after this inventory has been sold off can full delivery to markets in Europe and the US be expected.

Luca Martin, Executive Director of MV Agusta, explained to the Italian media outlet GPOne:
“Our goal for 2025 is to sell 4,000 motorcycles again. We had to stop making Euro 5 bikes in 2024, which led to an increase in stock. We actually had more ambitious sales goals for 2025, but KTM’s bankruptcy proceedings messed up our plans. This caused us to lose a big chunk of our sales in the first quarter, and the second quarter was also hit hard.”
