V4 engine with 997 cm³ and over 210 hp
A year earlier, at EICMA 2024, CFMoto unveiled its in-house V4 engine for the first time under the title “V.04 Core of Speed.” Now, with the V4 SR-RR, the matching motorcycle has arrived. According to current specifications, the V4 engine with a displacement of 997 cm³ is said to deliver over 210 hp (at least 156 kW) at an engine speed of 14,500 rpm. This puts the engine on a par with current European and Japanese superbikes.
Despite this performance, the four-cylinder engine complies with the Euro 5+ emissions standard. This is made possible, among other things, by a fully titanium exhaust system from Akrapovic, which is already fitted to the prototype and is said to be ready for series production.
Power-to-weight ratio below 1 kg/hp
In terms of weight, CFMoto has announced a curb weight of less than 200 kg (less than 441 lbs). This results in a power-to-weight ratio of less than one kilogram per hp – a figure that only a few superbikes have achieved so far. There are no official figures for the top speed yet, but internally there is talk of over 300 km/h (over 186 mph). This would place the V4 SR-RR at the upper limit of the so-called “gentlemen’s agreement,” which is 300 km/h.
Active aerodynamics and semi-active suspension
A unique technical feature of the V4 SR-RR is its aerodynamic concept: The large winglets at the front are not static, but active. They automatically adjust to the speed and riding conditions while riding. At high speeds, they generate maximum downforce, while at low speeds they reduce air resistance.
The active winglets were demonstrated live at EICMA 2025 and show significantly faster response times than comparable concepts. Until now, only Bimota had announced a similar system with the KB998 Rimini, but it was never implemented in series production.
The aerodynamics package is complemented by a semi-active chassis with electronically controlled components. The supplier of the systems has not yet been announced. The equipment also includes a comprehensive electronics package with modern assistance systems and adjustable footrests.
Two prototypes and indications of series production readiness
CFMoto presented two variants at the trade fair: a show prototype in black and silver and a camouflaged test vehicle called “Proto 5.” The latter appears to be closer to series production. It features Brembo Hypure brake calipers, a side stand, and modified underbody fairing. In contrast, the show bike was equipped with MotoGP-specific components that are more eye-catching than relevant to series production.
The frame structure of the V4 SR-RR is particularly striking: there is no conventional main frame. Instead, the engine is used as a load-bearing element. The aluminum swing arm is mounted directly to the cylinder head and transmission—a principle also found on Ducati’s Panigale V4.
Series production possible in 2026—with variants?
Given the high level of development and concrete statements on emissions compliance, a market launch as early as 2026 seems realistic. In addition to a production version of the V4 SR-RR, other derivatives are also conceivable, such as a hyper-naked bike or a sporty crossover model based on the same V4 engine. Comparable models already exist from manufacturers such as Aprilia and Ducati – but at significantly higher prices. CFMoto could capture new market share here with an aggressive pricing model.
Conclusion:
With the V4 SR-RR, CFMoto is signaling serious ambitions in the high-end segment. Performance, technology, and design point to a superbike that can compete with the established competition—at least on paper. Whether the promises will be confirmed on the road and the racetrack will become clear by 2026 at the latest.
