With the new 820RR, ZXMoto presents an ambitious superbike concept from China that boasts exotic technical specifications. At this year’s CIMA in Chongqing, the young brand presented three versions of the sports bike as well as a naked variant based on the same three-cylinder engine.

The ZXMoto brand: New momentum from the Far East

ZXMoto was founded by Zhang Xue, who previously headed the Chinese motorcycle company Kove. The letters in the brand name stand for the initials of the company’s founder. Although ZXMoto has only been on the market for a short time, it has already achieved impressive sales figures. The brand recently celebrated the production of its 10,000th four-cylinder 500RR sports bike and also launched a retro version, the 500F, with the same engine.

With the new 820RR, ZXMoto now wants to claim the title of fastest Chinese-made motorcycle. The model aims to surpass the current national leader until superbikes from competitors such as CFMoto hit the market in the future.

The 820RR model variants

820RR – Base model:

The entry-level model in the 820RR series delivers an engine output of 135 hp (99 kW) and weighs 191 kg (421 lbs) when ready to ride. This version already features modern driver assistance systems such as cornering ABS, cornering traction control, and cruise control. The chassis also offers adjustable steering head angle geometry.

820RR-R – The sporty upgrade:

The 820RR-R increases power to 145 hp (107 kW) and reduces weight to 186 kg (410 lbs). This version features carbon fiber fairing parts, forged aluminum wheels, and a titanium exhaust system. The equipment includes a 6.2-inch Android-based display and a fully adjustable KYB fork with DLC coating.

820RR-RS – The top model:

The RS variant is the top of the range and comes as a single-seater. Numerous lightweight components have been used here, including an aluminum tank and magnesium components such as the rear frame, valve cover, and oil pan. This reduces the weight to 175 kg (386 lbs) and increases the engine power to 150 hp (110 kW). This top performance is achieved by a fully titanium Akrapovič exhaust and revised engine components with titanium connecting rods and valves. The suspension is provided by Öhlins, while the brakes are from Brembo GP4.

Further details about the naked bike have not yet been released, as the manufacturer says the model is not yet ready for series production.

Market launch and outlook

ZXMoto is still in the early stages of development. No information is available yet on availability outside China. Even in its home market, delivery of the new 820RR is not expected until next year.
