CFMOTO is expanding the 800MT family with the addition of the new 800MT-ES featuring electronically controlled suspension. The model is positioned as a technically upgraded version for long journeys and changing conditions.
  • Semi-active, electronically adjustable suspension in collaboration with KYB
  • Inline twin-cylinder engine with around 90 hp (approx. 66 kW)
  • 19-liter fuel tank capacity with a curb weight of 231 kg (509 lbs)

CFMOTO is expanding its mid-range touring enduro series with another model. The new 800MT-ES is based on the well-known 800MT Touring, but with a comprehensively electronically controlled suspension, it focuses more on comfort and assistance systems. The focus is on adaptive damping, enhanced electronics, and slightly revised equipment.

Electronic suspension with semi-active control

The key feature of the 800MT-ES is its fully electronically adjustable suspension, which was developed in collaboration with KYB. Both the USD telescopic fork at the front and the rear monoshock are electronically controlled and are designed to respond in real time to road surface irregularities, load, and riding style.

According to the manufacturer, the suspension travel is 160 mm at the front and 150 mm at the rear. This means that the 800MT-ES is clearly designed for comfort on asphalt and moderate gravel riding. The system is supported by a six-dimensional IMU and a stability program from Bosch. A total of four riding modes are available, which are designed to influence engine characteristics, traction control, and suspension tuning.

Engine and drive

The 800MT-ES is powered by a liquid-cooled, two-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 799 cm³. Depending on the source, the power output is stated as around 90 hp (approx. 66 kW) at 9,250 rpm. The maximum torque is 75 Nm, which corresponds to around 55 lb ft, and is achieved at 8,000 rpm.

The engine complies with the Euro 5+ emissions standard and is also available in an A2-compliant version. In this version, the power is reduced to 48 hp (35 kW) at 5,000 rpm, with torque then at 68 Nm. The bike is shifted via a six-speed transmission with anti-hopping clutch, which is designed to enable more stable behavior when decelerating.

All models in the MT family are based on CFMOTO’s own design of the 799 cm³ parallel twin, which is also used in the KTM 790 Adventure.

Brakes, assistance systems, and wheels

For deceleration, CFMOTO relies on a dual disc system with a diameter of 320 mm at the front. Radially mounted four-piston calipers from J Juan are used. A 260 mm disc is used at the rear. Cornering ABS from Bosch and traction control are standard features.

The 800MT-ES is fitted with Michelin tires in sizes 110/80 R19 at the front and 150/70 R17 at the rear. The wheel sizes underline the clear focus on touring with occasional detours off paved roads.

Cockpit, equipment, and design

The cockpit features an 8-inch TFT display that shows all driving information and the settings for the assistance systems. The lighting is entirely LED, including daytime running lights.

A T Box will be available as an option, enabling connection to the CFMOTO Ride app. According to the manufacturer, this can be used to call up driving data and service information, among other things.

Visually, the 800MT-ES remains true to the familiar lines of the series. New additions include the Neptune Blue and Nebula White color options.

Weight, fuel capacity, and market launch

With a fuel capacity of 19 liters and a curb weight of 231 kg (509 lbs), the 800MT-ES is in line with the well-known 800MT Touring. Prices and market availability were not announced at the time of the announcement.
