MotoGP 2025/2026: Developments surrounding the Marquez brothers, Raul Fernandez, and the exclusive Rossi outfit

Exciting developments are on the horizon for the 2025 and 2026 MotoGP seasons. In addition to the Marquez brothers’ plans for the future, the focus is on Raul Fernandez’s rise and a special charity campaign involving Valentino Rossi.
  • Exclusive Rossi outfit “Soleluna Vale46” to be auctioned for Unicef
  • Regulation changes in MotoGP for the 2027 season
  • Raul Fernandez experiences late surge and increases pressure on Jorge Martin

After an eventful end to the MotoGP season, teams and riders are already busy focusing on the coming years. While on the sporting side, the performances and future plans of Marc and Alex Marquez and Raul Fernandez are making headlines, off the track, a special auction in aid of Unicef is attracting attention.

Exclusive Rossi outfit auctioned in aid of Unicef

To mark Valentino Rossi’s 46th birthday, his long-standing equipment supplier presented a special limited edition outfit called “Soleluna Vale46.” The combination of a Dainese “Demone GP D-Air” one-piece suit made of kangaroo leather and the “Pista GP-RR” carbon helmet from the AGV brand was not only signed by the multiple world champion, but also co-designed by him. The design combines a subtle dark base with gold accents and the typical neon yellow elements that have made Rossi famous throughout his career.

All 46 copies of this special edition were personally signed by Valentino Rossi with a gold pen and come in a high-quality display case. The edition with the number 01/46 is particularly noteworthy. It has been up for auction on the Italian section of an online auction house since November 25, with the auction hammer falling at 11:59 p.m. on November 29. All proceeds from this auction will go to the children’s charity Unicef.

Looking ahead: The future of the Marquez brothers and MotoGP realignment in 2027

In the paddock, after the celebrations of the season finale in Valencia, all eyes are already on the coming years. With the start of the 2026 season, MotoGP will go through a transition phase before fundamental changes take place in 2027. Not only will new 850cc engines be introduced, but Pirelli will also make its debut as the exclusive tire supplier.

The contracts for 2026 are considered to be largely finalized. Among others, Moto2 world champion Diogo Moreira and Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu will be promoted to the premier class as rookies. However, talks and expressions of interest for the period from 2027 onwards are already underway behind the scenes. A major reshuffle is to be expected, as many riders and teams are waiting to see how the new conditions will develop.

Alex Marquez, current vice world champion with Gresini-Ducati, is rumored to have made contact with KTM. However, this has not been officially confirmed. KTM manager Heinz Kinigadner made it clear that many riders and their management teams are currently in talks with potential employers. Marc Marquez is set to remain with the Ducati factory team for the coming years. Alongside him, Pecco Bagnaia remains the first choice, meaning that Alex Marquez currently has no realistic prospect of a place in the factory team.

For Marc Marquez himself, Honda could become an option again from 2027. The world champion has already informed Ducati of his salary expectations, which are said to be similar to what he earned at Honda. Until his move, he was paid around €15 million or approximately $16.4 million per year.

Decisions for the 2027 season are not expected at this time. The first step is to gain an initial understanding of the new 850cc motorcycles. Transfers are not expected until the second half of 2026 at the earliest, when all manufacturers have completed their initial tests.

Raul Fernandez: Late surge and pressure on Jorge Martin

With a remarkable improvement in performance over the course of the 2025 season, Raul Fernandez has put himself in a strong starting position. After difficult years and a disappointing start to the season, the Spaniard seemed to have been written off. But thanks to the keen instincts of team manager Davide Brivio, equivalent equipment, and additional personnel support, Fernandez was able to impress in the second half of the season.

While the first eleven races yielded only six World Championship points, Fernandez made it into the top 10 at the Brno GP. In Australia and Valencia, he secured a total of three podium finishes and collected 70 World Championship points. He finished in the points seven times in a row in both the sprint and the main race. This led to a significant jump to tenth place overall – ahead of Brad Binder.

This comeback allowed Fernandez to score points both athletically and in the media, which could also have an impact on Aprilia and Jorge Martin. Martin, who represented a major investment for Aprilia, fell short of expectations in the 2025 season. For 2026, Aprilia is counting on talented rookie Ogura alongside Fernandez and Marco Bezzecchi.

Conclusion

MotoGP is heading into a period of upheaval – both on and off the track. Developments surrounding the Marquez brothers, the late surge of Raul Fernandez, and charity initiatives such as the exclusive Rossi outfit are dominating the headlines of the 2025/2026 season. With the upcoming rule changes for 2027 and possible rider transfers, the paddock remains in flux.
