Following the introduction of new adventure touring models, Benelli has announced another new product for 2026. With the TNT 550, the traditional model name returns to the mid-range and will complement the sporty Tornado 550 supersport model with an upright and more everyday-friendly variant.
Positioning within the model range
The new TNT 550 is clearly positioned below the Tornado 550 as a naked bike and shares many technical features with it. This is no coincidence, as both models are based on the same platform. Benelli is now part of the Chinese Qianjang Motorcycle Group, which has developed several new mid-range models.
The Tornado 550 is already part of the sporty range, while the TNT 550 will take on the role of the dynamic all-rounder in the future. Benelli is thus following a well-known strategy of offering different vehicle concepts on a common technical basis.
Engine and performance data
The TNT 550 is powered by the familiar 554 cm³ two-cylinder in-line engine. According to the manufacturer, it delivers 56 hp (41 kW) at 8,250 rpm. Maximum torque is 54 Nm (39.8 lb ft) at 5,500 rpm.
The performance data clearly places the TNT 550 in the upper mid-range class. At the same time, there is to be a version for A2 license holders, with which Benelli specifically wants to appeal to beginners and those switching from other bikes. Details on throttling have not yet been released.
Chassis, brakes, and tires
Benelli has opted for 17-inch cast aluminum wheels for the chassis. Braking at the front is provided by two 320 mm semi-floating brake discs in combination with radially mounted four-piston calipers. At the rear, a 260 mm brake disc provides deceleration.
Pirelli Angel GT II tires are used as standard. The tires are clearly designed for road use and everyday suitability, thus matching the positioning of the TNT 550.
Electronics and equipment
Standard equipment includes two riding modes, Normal and Sport. The TNT 550 also features traction control, which can be deactivated in the same way as the ABS.
The central display element is a 5-inch TFT display. This offers connectivity via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well as an integrated navigation function. This puts the TNT 550 on a par with other models in its class in terms of equipment.
Design and appearance
Visually, Benelli remains true to its unique style. The front end with its headlight and light mask is particularly striking. The design may not appeal to everyone, but it is clearly recognizable as a unique interpretation of a modern naked bike. The upright seating position and wide handlebars underline the model’s sporty, urban character.
Market launch and outlook
The market launch of the Benelli TNT 550 is planned for 2026. Specific information on price, color options, or equipment lines is not yet available. The exact implementation of the announced A2 version is also not yet known.
However, the presentation of new models at international trade fairs such as EICMA shows that Benelli intends to further expand its mid-range in the coming years.
