TVS registers HyprStunt design patent with RTR in India and hints at possible production model

TVS has filed a design patent in India for the RTR HyprStunt stunt bike concept. The application is fueling speculation that the study could eventually lead to a street-legal naked bike.
  • Design patent for the RTR HyprStunt concept filed in India
  • First appearance at EICMA 2025 in Milan
  • Study to serve as basis for a possible naked streetfighter model

Following its presentation at EICMA 2025, the RTR HyprStunt concept from TVS Motor Company is once again in the spotlight. The design patent application in India, which has now been made public, shows that the manufacturer is at least formally securing the project. Even though it is still a stunt bike that is not street legal, a possible production version is considered conceivable.

Stunt bike with a clear focus on control and robustness

The RTR HyprStunt was designed from the outset as a pure stunt vehicle. Its features are correspondingly uncompromising. A striking feature is the integrated wheelie bar, which is specially designed for controlled balance maneuvers. The wide handlebars are designed to enable precise impulses, while the long, one-piece seat offers the rider maximum freedom of movement.

Another striking detail can be found on the left side of the handlebars. Next to the clutch lever, there is a second lever, which most likely controls a hand-operated rear brake. This solution is common on professional stunt bikes and allows for finer control during wheelies and balance tricks.

Differences between the exhibition bike and the patent drawings

The differences between the motorcycle shown at the trade fair and the patent drawings that have now been published are interesting. While the EICMA exhibit had additional footrests on the rear axle, these are no longer visible in the Indian patent documents. Whether this is a simplification of the design or a deliberate technical adjustment remains unclear.

What remains clearly recognizable, however, is the minimalist rear end, which completely dispenses with road-relevant components such as lighting. There is also no headlight, which underscores the concept’s lack of road approval.

Chassis and technology in focus in the study

The concept features an upside-down fork at the front and a directly linked monoshock at the rear. Both elements are designed to absorb the high loads generated during stunts. Braking is provided by disc brakes on the front and rear wheels, mounted on strikingly designed alloy wheels.

The exhaust is compactly positioned under the engine, which is intended to increase ground clearance on the one hand and keep the rear visually uncluttered on the other. Overall, the design appears angular, minimalist, and clearly functional.

Possible production derivative as a naked streetfighter

Although the RTR HyprStunt was developed purely as a show bike, the design patent suggests more extensive plans. Within the industry, it is considered likely that TVS could use the design language and basic concept for a street-legal naked bike.

Such a model would be positioned in the sporty mid-range segment and could compete directly with established naked bikes. However, no concrete technical data or timeline for a production motorcycle is available at this time. Current assessments should therefore be viewed with caution.

What does this mean for motorcyclists?

The design patent application for the RTR HyprStunt suggests that TVS does not view the study as purely a trade fair exhibit. For motorcyclists, this means above all that another sporty naked bike in the mid-displacement segment could be created. If a road-legal version is produced, we can expect a motorcycle that is clearly designed for agility, minimalist design, and sporty ergonomics. At the same time, competition in this segment would continue to increase, which could lead to more choice and possibly more differentiated concepts in the long term. However, concrete effects will only become apparent once TVS actually announces a production model and discloses technical data and market positioning.
