Following the market launch of the Honda WN7, the Japanese manufacturer is continuing to push ahead with its electrification efforts. Recent patent publications point to another electric motorcycle that differs significantly from previous studies in terms of both appearance and concept. Although the model has already been shown publicly, no specific technical data or name has been released yet.
New electric motorcycle unveiled to the public for the first time
The patent drawings that have now emerged originate from publications dating back to March 2025. Shortly thereafter, the motorcycle was on display at the Beijing Motor Show in China in April. Despite the public presentation, Honda was conspicuously reticent with information. Neither key technical data nor a model name were disclosed.
However, the timing fits well with Honda’s current strategy. After the introduction of the WN7 in 2025, the manufacturer repeatedly emphasized its intention to gradually expand its range of battery-electric motorcycles.
Differentiation from previous electric concepts
Honda already presented several electric studies at EICMA 2024. At that time, the focus was on the EV Fun Concept, which was later developed into the WN7, and the EV Urban, among others. This was followed in October at the Japan Mobility Show by the EV Outlier Concept, a futuristic vehicle with cruiser influences and anime styling.
However, the now patented motorcycle does not appear to have any direct connection to these concepts. Although familiar Honda design elements can be recognized, overall the vehicle appears to be unique and significantly closer to possible series production.
Unusual design and relaxed seating position
The design of the cockpit is particularly striking. A kind of flying support connects the seat directly to the front fairing. This component significantly shapes the side view and clearly distinguishes the motorcycle from previous Honda designs.
The footrests are positioned far forward and, according to the patent drawings, are adjustable. This results in a very relaxed seating position with a clear cruiser orientation. The posture is reminiscent of the EV Outlier Concept, but here it appears less futuristic and more geared towards everyday use.
Classic technology with scooter operating concept
Technically, the drawings show a rather conventional design. USD telescopic forks are used, some of which are aerodynamically covered. Radially mounted four-piston brake calipers can be seen at the front. The rear wheel is driven by a toothed belt.
The controls are interesting. The patent images show levers at both ends of the handlebars, while there are no pedals on the footrests. This suggests a typical scooter braking system, in which the rear brake is operated via the left-hand lever. In conjunction with a twist grip throttle, a twist-and-go design without a clutch or gearshift can be assumed.
Market launch still open
Given the stage of development, it remains unclear when the new electric motorcycle could be launched on the market. Experience with the introduction of the WN7 suggests that several years may pass between the initial concept and the near-series version. Therefore, a period of at least two years is considered realistic before a production-ready model is presented.
Until then, Honda is likely to continue to consolidate the findings from its previous electric projects and gradually expand its range.
